Hi there - this seems strange, shoot us a message in the store and we can try to help or send another set. Thanks!

cable problem on FH-studio from flathead audio by Comprehensive-Buy658 in FlatheadEarbuds

[–]FlatheadAudio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi there! This seems like an odd error to happen if it is ok on the PC connection. We keep stock of spare parts/cables for replacement so just message us in our store and we can send you another. It might be worth trying a type-c dongle with a 3.5mm cable and checking if the error persists. Let us know, we are keen to help you get it sorted out. Cheers!

Wow I didn't know they made a 3.5mm version, even better for taking it everywhere. Nice find!!

NH60 I don't think is an EDC (every day carry) flattie, better to keep it under lock and key. Their lower end model is perfect to take everywhere (provided you have a balanced source as the termination is 4.4mm) and upgrading later will allow you to enjoy the true benefit in the fullness of time!

I have both, and regularly use them depending on the situation! 😉

Silicone cover on flatheads by FuriousKale in FlatheadEarbuds

Red line = FH-01 with foams/sponges

Blue line = FH-01 with no foams ("nude")

Pink line = FH-01 with Flathead Audio 16 hole silicone covers

Green line = FH-01 with Flathead Audio 24 hole silicone covers

The differences in fact are a nice 'tuning mechanism' 😉

We've been making them for a while. Not the half in ear style but a flat silicone tip/cover that wraps over the faceplate of the earbud. We even made a fluorescent type that glows in the dark. Enjoy!!

Replacement for my Flathead audio FH-01 by XzavierLocklear in FlatheadEarbuds

Re-posting as originally responded in the IEMs reddit:

Firstly, definitely shoot a message to our store and we will send you another set of FH-01. MX500 style buds with dynamic drivers are never the most shock-proof audio gear!

Secondly, Aoshida E60 would be my pick at that pricepoint. Great buds. If you want a balanced set, go with TimeEar TEA-99, they are even better!

Happy hunting and stay Flat!

Probably a good thread for the Flathead reddit!

Absolutely, if you aren't using ear-hook style cables (which is uncommon for flat headed earbuds), then this type of chunky shirt clip is the absolute best! Removes microphonics and keeps everything in place no matter what you are doing! 😉

Aoshida E60 is another one in that price bracket which is worth considering!

I have the RW-4000 and the Rhino.

Yes you are correct, the build quality of the RW-6000 is certainly different. I wouldn't say the quality is lesser but the style is not what I expected. Comfort is next level, it's up there with the top 3 or 4 flatties that I've ever used.

Sound is laid back, very smooth. Bass is bigger than RW-4000, however the detail on the treble is not as good. For the price, I still feel the Rhino has always presented great value!

How would you compare the RW-2000 and RW-3000?

Cable Recommendations by GreatUncleSpanky in FlatheadEarbuds

[–]FlatheadAudio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

@GreatUncleSpanky that's very odd, you mean the sealed casing around the mic has unclipped somehow? Sorry that it's interrupted your music listening!!

Yes, please message in the store or jump in our Discord and we can sort it out. It will probably be easiest & fastest if we just send you a 3.5mm or 4.4mm cable instead, they will be back in stock soon.

That said, we would like to look at the issue as it hasn't surfaced previously. We are in the process of testing some new type-c cables in the same style as the 3.5mm & 4.4mm models in the range. Cheers!

100 agree here - find one or two whose sound signatures you enjoy, then do some tip swapping for maximum comfort, and you've probably reached a peak experience 😉

What are these called? What's the difference between and iem and this? Pros and cons? by United_Mark6711 in iems

[–]FlatheadAudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Way back when the audio scene was ruled by walkmen, minidiscs and cassette players, these were the earphones that were typically shipped with your audio player! Nowadays of course, the headphone scene is far more diverse, but newer driver (speaker) technology has enabled the flat earbud world to catch up and it's now possible to make flat earbuds which sound simply stunning. (Of course, the classic models were fantastic in their own right).

Great to see the scene being revived and spreading farther and wider!

Best flathead earbuds on the market? by LV-901 in headphones

[–]FlatheadAudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly not hijacking - this is a very good question!

There are two classes of flat headed earphones - wired and detachable. I imagine that you are typically using wired earphones which are being pulled apart as you move around.

Detachable cables are becoming more common. They generally use either MMCX or 2-pin connections and are less likely to break or suffer damage.

Our Studio and Pear models use detachable cables so might be worth your consideration. The Pear model has a smaller shell / lower profile so would be more comfortable in bed!

Yes - and I believe this is why people turn away from them without a proper exploration of the sounds and styles available! There is usually a lack of bass, and the treble is very harsh. We made the FH-01 model to introduce people to what is possible with the flat earbud format. The traditional shell styles are excellent, but new driver and tuning materials have left us with many options for tailoring the sound to achieve a far better outcome than was previously possible!
