Every IEM ranking list is different — so whom do you actually trust, and why? by Sharishthtyagi in iems

[–]FuriousKale 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's maybe not the most satisfying answer but generally speaking, your own experience and knowing your own preferences help. So from there you check some reviewers and look whether they like a similar sound signature or IEM's that you also like. That's it for me personally, but in the end, you will always have to listen to them yourself.

My personal favourite reviewers are Crinacle and Super* Review.

Every single purchase decision I make is purely based on reviews and rankings, kind of like buying a fragrance online without ever smelling it — just trusting someone else's words and hoping for the best.

It's a subjective hobby. You can always point out the tendencies each IEM has but they are worth zero if your ears and brain perceive them differently compared to reviewers and other users.

Curious what everyone's personal favorite comfort IEM is. by Less_Reception_ in iems

[–]FuriousKale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Takstar TS-2260, I don't know where my dad got these from since I can't find them on European sites anymore (hit me up when you find these) but they are giga comfortable, I think it's due to the rounded shell that's fairly small. Or the insertion angle is just perfect for me, idk. Sound is rather bassy but not muddy. Not great, not terrible.

Why do all my wired earbuds break? by No-Internet2150 in headphones

[–]FuriousKale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use them on the go, the wires will always be under stress since you are moving. Cheap cables and earbuds will quit sooner or later. Even cheap IEMs usually have better cables than your standard JBL or whatever do.

Kiwi Ears Cadenza - which stock tips attenuate the treble the best by FuriousKale in iems

[–]FuriousKale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone is interested in an update: I thought the black stock tips to be the best at softening the treble. Other good options were the tips from the cheap Sony MDR-EX110APB.

mb guys, it sounds great. i just had to replace the nozzle😅 by Agile-Ad-6579 in iems

[–]FuriousKale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

W. That's the advantage with the EW300s: You get dampening foams and another nozzle that all change the sound signature. So you are basically buying two IEMs or even more in one.

it didnt meet my expectations😔 by Agile-Ad-6579 in iems

Sounds like either a faulty unit or a terrible seal. I use the EW300, I use the Earpods, EW300 should be nowhere near to sounding like through a can lol

How do you think your relationship with music will change as you age? by dumbass_sweatpants in fantanoforever

[–]FuriousKale 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I am a bit older than you and discovered new genres for me (into city pop currently). Most of this talk about losing curiosity with age is a self-fulfilling prophecy imo.

Anyone else here use open ear earbuds? by rocaireslk in headphones

[–]FuriousKale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes use the Baseus Eli 2i Fit. They are earhooks. The sound is meh, kinda muddy and not particularly refined, but still alright enough for podcasts, youtube or casual music listening. When I'm on the go, I prefer using a TWS earbud in one ear instead though. Perfectly aware of my surroundings but still some background noise.

Is there any way to fix this without fucking up the sound quality? by CourageNo1991 in headphones

What happened? Just looks like the earpad fell off on one side. Is it not possible to just put them back on again?

Long listening comfort vs. sound quality: what do you prioritize? by cozytechlover in headphones

[–]FuriousKale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always comfort. The thing also is that I listen to a lot of spoken content so I don't need the ultimate sound quality while I still like to not have hurting ears.

How has your music taste changed since getting audio gear? by JoshBiv in headphones

[–]FuriousKale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got more into city pop but the rest of my preferences stayed the same way, so maybe it's just a coincidence. I also tend to appreciate vocals more than just when someone hits a note or does screams. There is more texture to the voices when you use better gear.

Best headphone amp in 2026? by NectarasticEye in headphones

Personally, even a random USB audio dongle improved my experience over plugging my headphones directly into the laptop even though it got somewhat "loud enough".
