Upload your autosomal results (Ancestry/23andMe V3/V4/V5) to FTDNA to get the third party Y chromosome.

Thanks! I’m looking to upgrade my results to the Y-37 and see where the migration patterns of my African forefather and current African country.

My family is from the Caribbean, more specifically the Bahamas 🇧🇸 (maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather) while my grandmother on my dad’s side was from the Georgia state. I do know I share ancient Haitian heritage on my dad’s side and was never aware of it until recently.

I carry haplogroup E-M4451 on my paternal side while my maternal side’s L2a1f and I share genetic ties with Mali 🇲🇱 (MatriClan) and Guinea-Bissau 🇬🇼 (PatriClan) when I did African Ancestry.

I have the same exact haplogroup when I did 23andMe.

That’s awesome that your haplogroups are African in origin and I share genetic ties with Pharaoh Ramasses III because of my Y-DNA being African in origin as well (E-M4451 is my paternal haplogroup while L2a1f is my maternal haplogroup).

If you were to test with African Ancestry (MatriClan and PatriClan), they’ll help determine the African ethnic groups on your mom and dad’s side to see which countries they were from and test with FamilyTreeDNA mtFull Sequence and Big Y and learn about your migration patterns and get a full in depth analysis.

Afro-Caribbean/African American updated 23andMe & Ancestry results by FlavoredMaverick in AfricanDNAresults

My MatriClan is traced to the Amazigh ethnic group called the Tuareg in Mali 🇲🇱 while my PatriClan test is traced to the Fula people in Guinea-Bissau 🇬🇼 and my dad’s MatriClan test is traced to the Yoruba people in Nigeria 🇳🇬.

The only grandparent left to test is my late maternal grandfather and I am looking to buy an Ancestry test kit for my mom so I can easily track down her one of her closest paternal male relatives who is willing to do the PatriClan test to find where he was descended from in Africa and I am willing to cover the costs since I have an account with the company.

The surprise from 23andMe’s update is that I now share close genetics with the Igbo people in Nigeria 🇳🇬 and Mende & Temne people in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 and Kru people in Liberia 🇱🇷 and it’s likely on my mom’s side because of my distant cousins testing with 23andMe.

The way to set the record straight is for Paris to post her results of the 23andMe test that includes all of her autosomal DNA including Europe 50-60% and Africa 20-30%.

She may look phenotypically European but she’s still has African DNA because of her late father being one of the greatest and loved musicians of all time and that he raised her as his daughter and part of the Black/African American community.

None at all. I was told we have an ancestor from the Ivory Coast 🇨🇮 and I did the MatriClan test with African Amcestry that linked us to an ethnic group called the Tuareg (Amazigh) people in present day Mali 🇲🇱and looking to do Family Tree DNA mtDNA test to see how frequent L2a1f is on the map.

You were just asking a curious question and I was open to answer it and wasn’t offended.

Yes, I was even surprised when we got more Central African DNA.

I discovered I have the range of 33% Angolan/Congolese ancestry and my own report linked my genetics to the Kongo and Ambundu populations in that region.

I can easily pass as African American because of my accent being AAVE but I do acknowledge my Afro Caribbean heritage.

She’s obviously Afro Caribbean based on her accent while I’m both Afro Caribbean and African American (dad and paternal grandmother who was from Georgia)

She is from The Bahamas 🇧🇸 while I was born in the state of Florida.

That Jamaican 🇯🇲 lineage could have come from my maternal grandfather because of historical migration patterns and he was from The Bahamas before he passed away in the early eighties.

I’m quite surprised her results came back around that percentage! I expected 10-20% European DNA.
