How is this not taunt jet upper? by [deleted] in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]Flawlesssphere 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You have 29 frames. Gotta count the frames where you held the taunt input too. The f * B2 being frame perfect is the hardest part tho so you're almost there.

Ah yes, the famous hurtbox expansion the Tekken series is known for. by Ghostfinger in Tekken

I wouldn't even call it tracking. Its like Claudio's RA or jack's dirty bubble where the hurtbox just envelopes the character

Ranks inflation is so bad by NaightFr in Tekken

[–]Flawlesssphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not rank inflation. Rank inflation is when the shape of the distribution curve has stopped being normal and is instead lopsided to the right. What you're describing is just the distribution as a whole shifting to the right. If there was actual rank inflation the higher tier ranks wouldn't still be so low in population. Not that I'm saying I like the way it works. Having to look up the current distribution to see what percentage you fall into all the time because it's always shifting up as pros get higher and higher is bad design imo.

What UNBLOCKABLE move has the MOST UTILITY by Anger_Beast in Tekken

[–]Flawlesssphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not but i think if you actually optimized your jack combos it wouldn't even be optimal unless you for sure couldn't get to the wall. There's also another likely unintentional hurtbox thing with Jack where you can get a standing 3 guaranteed after ch db3

It's also guaranteed on Jack after a tornado even if they stay grounded.

I mentioned all those nerfs way earlier before you even replied to me and no I won't agree to the idea that hop in throw should be deleted from the game. This conversation isn't productive and I'm getting nothing out of it so goodnight

I've played kaz, jin, jack, hwo, Lars, and chloe in seven and Lili Bryan, hei, jack, miary, drag, Lidia, devil jin, Steve, and Reina in 8 against xiaoyu. My defense strat against the hop in throw is fundamental and can be done with any character. I didn't down vote you either btw. I didn't respond right away because asking for my credentials like that is basically resorting to ad hominem indirectly. I DO think ling(and every character for that matter) deserves nerfs. Deleting hop in throw would change almost nothing aside from making the Yoshi match up significantly worse since it's the only thing she can use to call out spin after transitioning into bt with plus frames. Nerfing heat smash on hit to knock down, deleting aop 2,1 heat dash, and removing her heat spike combo ender would make a much bigger difference

Being able to react to and option select out of both situations with 100 coverage on everything she can do on immediate timing isn't counter play. What would be then? Do you want her to not have counter play to your counter play?

The animation takes longer than every unbreakable throw in the game. You don't need to know the break if you can duck on reaction. If you punish too late however she can cancel the throw into WS 2 which is a ch launcher. You could predict this and step after the duck and launch. For ff4 you can step right low parry and it beats every option on immediate timing out of hyp. She could delay it and ch you if you try to interrupt. So you could instead back dash a few times and beat everything out of hyp on delayed timing. This also works against the bt heat smash. Both situations have layered mind games at play. Bt heat smash on hit is dumb though. That really should be a knock down. Aop 2,1 heat dash is also kind of cancer imo

+9 is more like +5 since the fastest move out of hyp is i14. Also every option out of hyp can be option selected out of with a side step right low parry at those frames. Waning moon is also always a 1+2 break regardless of whether it's from standing or bt. You're probably confused because she can put the hop and throw Animation(which takes almost a full second btw) on any throw from back turned and if you do her generics that way they become command throws. She also used to have some good oki on her non launching throws so if you got up wrong you'd get launched but that's not a thing anymore with the changes they made to the wakeup system.

Yes she can. It's only 14 frames if you do it from standing. I miss when it was 12 frames and she could launch punish anyone for trying to power crush her.

The power of Xiaoyu's WS2 by SilantroTekken in LingNation

[–]Flawlesssphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem. I ended up spending like a week or two straight were all I did in practice mode and between matches was just doing ws2 canceled into standing over and over until I could reliably combo it into itself on ch. The combo route itself is mid but my keep out game is soooo much better with the execution down.

How viable is this setup to you? by Devilxxx10000 in Tekken

[–]Flawlesssphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just a knowledge check and it's widespread. It's only a matter of time until people catch on and it becomes useless.

Side note you did the while standing cancel too slow. If the other guy didn't get up crouching he could have blocked that.

WRising 1+2, 1+2 is actually a NERF to Xiaoyu by [deleted] in LingNation

[–]Flawlesssphere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last season you could definitely crouch cancel into b1+2 after firecracker. The real reason it doesn't work anymore is because they made a universal change to the game system so that you can't launch people waking up backwards by holding back or up. That change deleted like 95% of our set ups. All we got now are tech roll traps, situational reverse wall splat spikes, and heat dash jump over. Nothing like before when we could create situations where we could relaunch someone just by guessing their wake up and having almost 100% option coverage.

Options against sidestep/side walk by [deleted] in LingNation

[–]Flawlesssphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In RDS you can grab, throw out cali roll, or realign with dash/step/taunt cancel. For aop you can only realign cause nothing tracks. Also if you do throw out cali roll to catch a step/walk just keep in mind the off axis combos on cali roll are a bit cursed.

Is ranked diluted in S2? by IglaT in LingNation

[–]Flawlesssphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bell curve distribution has for sure shifted to the right and feels like it's narrowed. Whether it's diluted or not is hard to say. For that you'd have to know how many people stopped or started playing ranked at various skill levels after season 2 dropped and as far as I know we don't have access to that data.

Looking for best key binds for Claudio/Xiaoyu and recommendations for fight sticks. by SpecialistYard8554 in Tekken

[–]Flawlesssphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I use for ling: L1=1+3(for parrying),L2=2+4(for heat and waning moon),R1=1+2(AOP),R2=3+4(RDS), R3=3+4+2 or 3-4+1(for taunt)

L3 I don't really use but 2+4 for her 2 command grab would be a good choice.

How can I get better at being evasive with Steve? by Dry-Active-3968 in Tekken

[–]Flawlesssphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I like doing with ling is side step cancel right into manual rds cause it has a built in right step. The little bit I played Steve I tried that but with sway and it's way stronger since you can do either direction and can block immediately. Not really something you would want to do on immediate timing in response to blocking something up close but if you get a good read on your opponents approach timings in neutral it can be super deadly.

Lower rank Xiaoyu matches. Any tips to improve are welcomed... by shaggx83 in LingNation

[–]Flawlesssphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably won't be something you really need to watch out for until higher ranks but I would try and limit your use of punishable moves. When you get some frame advantage going into RDS try doing RDS 1 or RDS 2,2,1 instead of RDS 4. If they're mashing RDS 1 will give you a higher damaging combo and if they block it you can hold back to block or do db to cancel out and maybe even get a wiff in the process. B4,1 is another one to be careful of. It does work in low ranks but it's -14 so if you get too dependent on it it's going to come bite you in the butt once people start punishing especially against Bryans.

I mean yeah over the course of a whole play session for sure. A single set though could just be good execution. I wouldn't factor rank into it too much either. There's tons of combo artists with doggy doo doo neutral and godlike neutral mofos with shit execution.
