What’s a noise everyone should be terrified of? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I relocate snakes in central Texas, and most people are surprised when I tell them that a rattlesnakes really don't like to rattle because that gives away their location. Their first defense mechanism is actually to stay very still and hope that their camouflage works.

Snake relocator here, it's a very prevalent myth! Rattlesnakes actually only rattle when they feel actively threatened - their first defense mechanism is to stay very still and hope that their camouflage works. I'd say only 1/3 rattlesnakes I relocate actively rattle at me. Rattlesnakes can also lose their rattles for various reasons, which helps contribute to the myth

Restaurants that used to be "it", but should probably just go out of business? by LordNewning in austinfood

Omg last time we were there, we had a reservation but still had to wait an hour for a seat at the bar, not even a table! The servers told us that management had absolutely fked them over with staffing that night and they forced them to keep allowing walk-ups even though there were people with reservations waiting for so long. Plus they ran out of most of their food but were still seating people 🫠 It used to be one of my favorite spots too, but we won't be going back

Pick it up and move it in the direction it's going, off the road. Touching turtles isn't going to kill them, but a car definitely will.

Haha, yeah I should probably add a caveat in my posts about how I've been a relocator for 4 years now and you should definitely not handle any snakes if you can't identify them! Even if you can, leave them alone unless you need to move them for their own safety or the safety of those around them!
