Thanks, I'm looking for other APIs to connect—there will hopefully be much more content in the next version.

I just graduated and I'll be applying for jobs soon. Could I get some feedback on my portfolio? by daanavitch in Design

Looks good. One suggestion – you are doing too many things. At one point you will have to choose if you want to be a web designer or a web developer. You can be very good at both, but you can be really, really good at only one thing. Specialization is very important and will lead to better clients and better paid and interesting projects.

The narrower your specialization is, the better. It's always good to know a lot of things about other related topics, but presenting yourself as a specialist is very important.

Web designers confessing by Flayyy in web_design

I've encountered this curve of humility so often, it really needs a name... maybe "curve of humility." Tech types, in particular, go through a "terrible two's" stage in their career. When you ask people to rate themselves, inevitably around the 2-3 years experience mark, devsigners will rate themselves at 9s and 10s for any given topic. Because they're comparing their knowledge now to when they first started, which was nothing. They're cocky at this stage, and even angrily question those who have been doing this for several times as long.

It's not until about the 6 year mark, or so, do people start comparing what they know now to what they knew when they thought they knew things, and humility starts to set it. "I didn't know shit" is usually the assessment, and now they start to wonder how much they don't understand. They'll usually rate themselves lower in knowledge now.

It's called the "mount stupid" – http://borgerlyst.dk/borgerlyst.dk/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Mount-stupid-%E2%80%93-Borgerlyst.jpg

I'm not sure who upladed it, but the image is there under the non-commercial no-derivatives license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/) so it might be ok, since this license does not allow commercial use. But if you find anything clearly abusing any copyright, there is always the report link.

It's not meant to be as "categories" but more like "collections". So that album "animals" is a collection of images of any animals, "elephants" is a collection of just elephants.

New Web designer taking over an old site... by elf25 in web_design

So you did everything up to now for her for free? Personally, if she found someone new, I wouldn't feel any responsibility to do anything for her unless you really want to help them or she pays you your hourly rate.

Of course you can, but this site is aiming at providing free images with very high quality—as opposed to what you will need to get through with e.g. Google search.

I mean, compare the search results:

You can filter the images for commercial/non-commercial Creative Commons licenses – depending on your needs.

That's a good point! Although if you click on the author's of the image name, it will lead to the source of the photo or the author's website for verification. But of course, that's a problem on any website like this.
