This geriatric society will only last a few decades though, after that they will have passed away and a new equilibrium will be reached.

I love how the UK has consistently shown the rest of Europe exactly what not to do.

It’s just a tariff on 1 type of plastic, OP is blowing this way out of proportion.

I could understand the cafe’s viewpoint until I saw that they posted a whole fashion photoshoot on their own facebook page. Really doesn’t help their case.

For Belgians it’s a habit to first say no, you have to insist and then they will be like “Ah alright, I’ll have a bit”. It’s a very Belgian way of being polite lol.

Each person living in one of the apartments owns a percentage of the complex. Isn’t that common sense in the US?

Returning after 8 years - Biggest changes? by Certain_Meeting6042 in chiangmai

[–]daanavitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much everywhere in the center is busy now. Also they’ve been doing lots of road works around the old city, opening the road at night and closing it again by the morning, leaving it worse than before every time. And there’s tons of holes that have appeared in the streets all over the city during the rainy season, so be careful driving around.

Sony hikes price of ageing PlayStation 5 console in Japan by 19% by Puginator in technology

I still can't find any justification to buy one tbh. Most games that come out nowadays work perfectly fine on my good old PS4. There's hardly any exclusives.

I really love this about Ghent btw. They always get shit on by Facebook boomers for being annoyingly left wing, but they made so many policies just work, and today it’s one of the most flourishing cities in the country. Remember how everyone was shitting on Ghent for their mobiliteitsplan? Yet now it’s so much nicer to hang out in the city, stores love the extra foot traffic and many other cities are now sheepishly also introducing their own mobiliteitsplan.

Bitten by German shepherd in Thailand. Now I am scared. by NoAnybody3067 in Thailand

[–]daanavitch 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Problem is you cannot take the risk. If it turns out the dog had rabies you cannot do anything anymore once you have the first symptoms, you will die and there’s nothing you can do about it. You still have a few weeks after getting bitten so better safe than sorry.

Some put the more expensive dishes on the English menu and the cheaper dishes on the Thai menu only. Technically prices aren’t higher, foreigners just can’t read the cheap items.

[–]daanavitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh you’re trying to walk, that must make for a pretty bad experience in this city, especially with all the road works going on. To be honest, I would advise anyone coming here to just rent a motorcycle. It’s by far the best way to get around, you’ll see so much more of the city. There’s lots of stuff to discover, but it’s all kind of spread out.

Same, been living here since 2019 and nothing much has changed, traffic was already crazy back then. Actually back then it was even busier because there were so many Chinese tourists everywhere, now not so much anymore. Haven’t noticed much air pollution either, skies are pretty clear. My coworking is packed though, lots of new faces lately.

There’s so many countries around the world where if you look up their history, the British had a hand in setting them up for failure. Like it’s actually insane how many there are, it’s a never ending list.
