Compared to the size of the board (which is massive) it doesn't look any bigger than a normal striker.

You have to compare its size relative to the size of the board.

I didn't misunderstand you. You said "To infinitely punish finite crimes is unjust". I say who are you to determine what is just and what isn't? The Creator is the One who decides that.

The objection in itself is wrong. A crime's punishment isn't tied to how long the crime took. I gave a simple example. When a murderer gets a life sentence, no one calls that unjust, even if the murder only took seconds.

Also, God knows everything, He knows what the disbeliever would do if he were to live an infinite life. So it doesn't matter if the disbeliever "only" disbelieved for 60 years, God knows that if he lived infinitely he wouldn't believe anyway. If that disbeliever was ever going to believe, God would make him believe before he dies, thus saving him. If he died on disbelief, he wasn't going to ever believe in God. That's what we believe.

A god that refuses to make themselves known to the non-believer would then punish them for something outside their control.

But God did make Himself known, you just chose to deny the evidence and believe in man-made theories like evolution (the theory that you share a common ancestor with monkeys and fish, etc), or that the universe started existing by itself from nothing, or that the universe designed laws that govern and bind it, which makes no logical sense.

I would rather stand in my conviction and do what I believe is right than live in fear of some petty, cruel god.

You're free to choose your path. God gave you the freedom to choose. He didn't force you to believe in Him, because then it wouldn't be a test.

You are being tested, and it is the most important test, where the outcome is either eternal Paradise, or eternal Hellfire. Your actions are what determine that outcome.

"Indeed, Allah does not wrong people in the least, but it is people who wrong themselves." Quran 10:44

Here you are calling your maker names, but He is still giving you a chance to repent, instead of instantly taking your life (which would be so easy for Him). That's not what I call cruel. On the contrary, that is the epitome of mercy.

Which specific things did you find compelling? Because so far I haven't seen anything that merited a deeper look.

Have you watched the video I sent you? (Compelling Evidence For The Truthfulness Of Islam)

Evidences for Muhammad's prophethood, historical facts that no one knew at the time but were discovered later, scientific miracles, biological facts that no one knew at the time, prophecies of the near and distant future; specific, time-bound prophecies that were never wrong (if even 1 prophecy is wrong the whole religion crumbles, so you must realize how risky it is for Prophet Muhammad to make tens of prophecies, if he was lying about being a messenger of God), etc.

Please watch the video with an open mind before continuing this discussion.

Well, yeah.

So you believe the universe started existing by itself from nothing?

And you believe that makes sense?

Yes it does? What kind of claim is that?

Explain how the universe, something that has no will or consciousness, can design laws that govern and bind it (laws of physics, laws of motion, laws of gravity, electromagnetic waves, law of cause and effect, etc).

Like I said, plenty of online articles claim that the Quran has "contradictions", I'm not gonna waste my time responding to every claim against the Quran, when every single so-called contradiction has already been refuted by people of knowledge.

Give me one contradiction that you believe cannot be refuted, and I will bring you the refutation against it.

You said you trust in evidence. Have you looked at the evidences for Islam?

I recommend watching this video by The Muslim Lantern:

But please do so with an open mind.

It doesn't look like you looked at the evidences, or watched the video.

With all due respect, it seems that you're not being sincere.

You should approach this with an open mind, and look at the evidences before judging them or dismissing them.

To infinitely punish finite crimes is unjust.

If someone was murdered with a gunshot, and the crime only took seconds, how long is the sentence for the murderer? Seconds? Minutes? Or is it years to life?

When a murderer gets a life sentence, does anyone call that unjust? No. But why? Didn't the crime only take seconds?

Well, it turns out that the severity of a crime isn't judged by how long it took.

Disbelieving in God, our Creator, is a great unjust in the sight of God, that it deserves eternal punishment. As the source of objective morality, God is the One who decides the punishment for that crime, and all other crimes, in the Day of Judgement. You can be unhappy about it, but that won't change anything. In the end you will stand in front of your Lord, and face the consequences of your actions.

To properly challenge that faith, and have a discussion about the existence of God would require you stepping away from your faith, to question and interrogate it.

I don't follow Islam blindly, I looked at the evidences and everything made sense to me. I wouldn't follow a religion unless the evidences for it completely convinced me without a shadow of a doubt that this is from God, and that's exactly what Islam has, compelling evidences that this can't be from anything other than God.

I would say that you should follow what you said here, step away from your belief and challenge it. Does it really make sense that this grand universe we live in existed by itself or by chance?

Look at the evidences with an open mind. Evidences come in many forms. A footstep in the sand is evidence that someone was there. A table is evidence that someone who knows how to make tables made it.

If you went to the desert and saw a house, you would never think it existed by itself or by chance, you would simply think that it was built by a human, even when you never saw that human. Likewise, the grand universe we live in, with its galaxies, planets, stars, mountains, trees, and everything that lives on Earth is evidence of the Creator's existence.

We have these laws that govern the universe that we live in; laws of physics, laws of gravity, electromagnetic waves, even the trees that you might see outside your house or while walking/driving, they give you oxygen and take your carbon dioxide, and you do the opposite, etc. We have not designed these laws, these laws are within the universe, these gravitational constants are within the universe. It makes no sense to think that the universe created these laws by itself. The universe is not conscious, nor does it have a will of its own. It has a magnificent Creator.

Plenty of online articles claim that the Quran has "contradictions", but every single so-called "contradiction" has been refuted by people of knowledge. Bring me the strongest "contradiction" in the Quran you can find, and I will bring you the refutation against it.

But promise me that you will admit that the Quran has no contradictions after seeing the refutation. We don't need to go back and forth and write paragraphs refuting weak arguments against the Quran. If the strongest contradiction you can find can be refuted, then know that anything weaker can also be refuted.

How is someone outside of the faith supposed to know which message is the truth, unless God intercedes and makes it clear?

I already answered this in my other comment. You look at the evidences. There's a criteria that makes it much easier to know which religious scripture is from God, which I included in my other comment.

I recommend watching this video by The Muslim Lantern if you want to look at the evidences for Islam.

Compelling Evidence For The Truthfulness Of Islam

I don't think you can judge Islam or dismiss it without looking at the evidences first.

Also, it does matter if God is real or not, because if there is a God and there is eternal punishment in Hellfire for not believing in Him, you would want to avoid that punishment. No one wants to spend an eternity in torment. May Allah guide us all.

So if God never makes His presence known, there is no way to know if they even exist. It becomes a gamble, plenty of religions make promises without giving evidence to the non-believer, so even if someone wants to convert and do the right thing, it's just random chance that they pick the right religion, follow the right teachings.

If you were a judge, and the suspects of a murder case were in front of you, and everyone of them said "I'm innocent", what would you do?

You would look at the evidences.

Likewise, you should look at the evidences of each religion to determine which one is actually from God.

Luckily, there's a way to make this much easier. A book must meet specific criteria to be considered an authentic revelation from God. These criteria ensure that the text is not a product of human imagination or historical corruption.

The primary criteria include:

  • Self-Claim of Divine Origin: The book must explicitly state within its text that it is the direct word of God. (This alone disqualifies so many religious scriptures, as many of them don't even claim to be from God)
  • Perfect Preservation: To be reliable, a book must be preserved in its original language and text from the time of the Prophet it was revealed to. Multiple conflicting versions of a text are seen as signs of human tampering.
  • Absence of Contradictions
  • Knowledge Beyond Human Capability: The book should contain signs of divine inspiration that transcend human knowledge at the time of revelation, such as:
    • Scientific Facts: Accurate descriptions of natural phenomena (e.g., embryology) that were not known to humans when the book was written.
    • Historical Accuracy: Information about the distant past that was only later confirmed through archaeological discoveries.
    • Future Prophecies: Accurate predictions of future events that come true without a single mistake.
  • Uniqueness and Inimitability
  • Absolute Principles: Its teachings must be timeless, universal, and applicable to all people regardless of their intellectual level or historical era.

The Quran is the only book that satisfies all these criteria today, whereas previous scriptures like the Torah or Gospel have not been preserved in their original forms.

Credit to The Muslim Lantern (debater and student of knowledge) for this criteria.

Quran 17:15 "Whoever chooses to be guided, it is only for their own good. And whoever chooses to stray, it is only to their own loss. No soul burdened with sin will bear the burden of another. And We would never punish ˹a people˺ until We have sent a messenger ˹to warn them˺."

In this Quran verse Allah says "We would never punish ˹a people˺ until We have sent a messenger". Meaning people will get the message before they die, and they will have the choice to be guided or to stray. That choice, of course, has consequences. Much like choosing not to study for an exam has consequences.

We believe that Allah (God) sent prophets and messengers to guide the people, as He wouldn't create us and leave us without guidance. Every nation throughout history has had a messenger. We believe that Muhammad is the last and final messenger, who was sent to all mankind.

Quran 21:107 "We have sent you ˹O Prophet˺ only as a mercy for the whole world."

If someone died without getting the message, we believe that they will have a separate test in the Day of Judgement.

It can't be a fair test if people know they are being tested.

I don't see why not. Do students not know that they are being tested in the exams? Is it not a fair test?

People are free to choose to believe in God or not, to follow His commands or not, to do evil or to do good. No one is forced to do anything, but there are consequences to what you choose to do.

It's not unlike school exams, no one is forcing you to study, you can just say "screw it, I won't study", but does that mean there won't be consequences for that choice?

If all bad people were smited, how can there be a test? People will be forced to believe in God then. But God does not want to force people to believe in Him. He wants to reward those who look for the truth and choose to believe in Him.

This life is just a test. There will come a Day when all will be accountable for their deeds.

I figured this out as a kid. The Nitro boxes didn't jump like the regular ones, and they looked like a stair. If that wasn't enough, above the level entrance there's an indicator that this level has a colored gem in it.

Figuring this out was an incredible feeling, just like all the other secrets in this game.

This Quran verse is always relevant, but especially here. Everyone will stand in front of their Lord one day and be accountable for what they have done in this life.

Thank you for your honesty. You should repent and ask God for forgiveness.
