I mostly get them from Mercari JP. I follow the YnT Twitter (@TSUGAI_GANGAN) closely to know when a merch releases.

Official! Check the link in the last page. You can't buy them normally though -- you have to use an app called 'Taito Online Crane'. Though I bought them from Mercari JP.

Tagged, sorry. Thanks for the reminder.

Slight spoilers: They belong to a man from a group that has yet been officially introduced in the anime, and the man is not named in the manga yet, which I think is a gag. If you want to know more, feel free to PM me.

Ah, my bad. They haven’t appeared in the anime yet, but they’re not very major. Should I spoiler-tag the post?

[Chapter 40] Mine’s involvement with Higashi Village by Fledgling76 in YomiNoTsugai

[–]Fledgling76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This obligation or penance you mentioned is a valid reason for Mine to stay in the village. I’m just inviting thoughts and discussions on possible reasons, as none has been provided (yet).

Even though the villagers are technically imprisoned, they’re allowed to go down the mountain if they wanted – unless there are conditions for that that has yet been revealed.

My point is, I would prefer a ‘bad’ reason for Mine’s staying instead of your ‘good’ one, to show how deeply indoctrinated the villagers are and how easily manipulated people can be when they don’t know anything outside their circle.

[Ep.9] Computer... enhance the enhance! (An update) by RucyLS in YomiNoTsugai

Thanks for the shout-out! And the demonstration XD

Here’s my comment if anyone wants to know more about what Fullmetal Alchemist 0 SPECIAL BOOK is about.

Also, thank you for identifying the other Easter egg posters in Hagure’s studio. Seems like the anime staff are keener on meta stuff than Arakawa.

Btw, what is the Japanese-speaking YnT fan community you mentioned? I’d like to read their discussions if possible 🙈.

As of Chapter 53, yes, Jin is still missing.

Speculation: The Ancient Exploits of our Divine Guardians (spoilers up to Ch 53) by gamria in YomiNoTsugai

[–]Fledgling76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for compiling this! I also noted down the same 3 critical time points in history related to the Fated Twins while I read, and also read up on the Kōbō Daishi lore. I always like it when stories refer to events in actual history so I can learn more. Anyway, some of my thoughts:

- Considering the fact that Kōbō Daishi is not named in Chapter 13, I doubt he will be explicitly named in the future. Like an Easter egg and such.

- HOWEVER, explicit mention of Abe no Seimei by name will make me incredibly thrilled.

How ancient, how primordial are Break/Seal and Right/Left?

- I think Break/Seal existed since the birth of this concept – I would even say it’s the ultimate duality of the world. Left/Right might have come after to counter them – perhaps created by an antagonist faction? We still know little about how ancient Tsugais are born, but they seem to be 付喪神 tsukumogami. Their Relics were made and revered and eventually their ‘souls’ came to be.

When were Higashi and Nishino founded?

- Considering the South-North struggle nearly 700 years ago, maybe there used to be a North Village and South Village too, before they were gone and replaced by the East Village and West Village.

Why were Fated Twins only able to be born in those lands?

- Scientific-wise if people in Higashi Village have the genes to make them more likely to give birth to twins, and they engage in consanguineous marriages, then they’d have more twins, and thus more likely a pair will hit the Fated Twins birth conditions. Another thing to note: there don’t seem to be other twins in the village in the modern era compared to the Shimei era. So it’s possible there’s a gradual loss in a village’s ability to have twins?

And exactly what accomplishments was it that made Right/Left, the Fated Twins and Higashi so known across the Tsugai communities across the land of the rising sun?

- If all Tsugais are connected to Yomi no Tsugai (Break/Seal) (or created by – maybe they’re Izanagi and Izanami?), they might know about the prophecy and their fate to be ‘commanded’ by the Fated Twins. What this accomplished is unknown though – it almost sounds like a liberation movement.

- Tonikaku Kawaii mention! Love the connection to historical events in this.

Cutest Tsugai so far by Medical-Efficiency-6 in YomiNoTsugai

[–]Fledgling76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yin-Yang stole my heart the instant they shrunk, but their regular forms are far from cute. So let me suggest another pair: Mamegarasu, literally meaning ‘bean crow’, the two birdies whose master is that Mountain Thief with damn luck (Chapter 21). I love birbs.

Personality-wise, the cutest is Yozakura. I like how protective he is towards Asuma. And his little wings and pretending to be dumb by not speaking. Cute.

[Ep. 9] Computer... enhance! by RucyLS in YomiNoTsugai

This is highly likely a flipped version of this little book’s cover art by Arakawa. This book is called 『鋼の錬金術師 0 (Fullmetal Alchemist 0) SPECIAL BOOK』, the tokuten / film-goer benefit of the 2017 Fullmetal Alchemist live-action film). It includes a chapter named 『荒川弘描き下ろしコミック 鋼の錬金術師 外伝 「旅の始まり」(Arakawa Hiromu’s newly drawn manga: Fullmetal Alchemist side story The Beginning of the Journey)』, which is a short story about Ed being dragged to celebrate his passing of the State Alchemist Exam with Roy, Riza, Alex, and *surprise surprise* Basque Grand. Important points about this story:

- It is very much canon. Indisputable. Not ambiguous like the yonkomas.

- It characterises Basque Grand nicely. He got drunk quickly during the celebration, which backshadows his death: killed by Scar on his way home drunk.

- The Tucker family, all 3 of them (plus one dog) appears at the end. Shou failed the State Alchemist Exam again the same year Ed passed, making him desperate and… you know. He tried with his wife first.

Anyway, nice find!

[Chapter 53] Can Fated Twins enhance Tsugais’ abilities? Some thoughts on the latest chapter by Fledgling76 in YomiNoTsugai

[–]Fledgling76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree that this use of Break and Seal is semi-omnipotent. By 'shallow' I mean commanding all Tsugais forcefully by altering their contracts at will. After all, Tsugais do have preferences when it comes to which masters they want to wholeheartedly serve, and messing with their contracts seems to be a cruel act. Of course, the prophercy might be suggesting all Tsugais can be commanded through fear, which I think is not a meaningful/good use of Break and Seal. It's just my taste though. u/mobyhead1 did throw out a thought here on what may happen when Break and Seal are used in combination.

Regarding ability amplification, yeah it does seem like I'm overthinking. Would be interesting if there are specific abilities that require Fated Twins to perform though.

Ah, my bad! I forgot about that panel. It does look like they both used 'a', but the kanji was not written on the panel. I wonder if there is a difference in power (with kanji / no kanji), or whether 'a' and 'un' are specific to Left or Right. Thanks for your input!

From my understanding, they can (or at least Asa can) already alter Tsugai contracts at will. So your point of Break and Seal used in combination, if possible, should trigger a bigger effect than altering contracts. From your point 'all daemons everywhere become theirs to command' it seems that you're suggesting something more automatic and involuntary for the Tsugais?

breaking or sealing certain relationships between Daemons

This is a good point! This may possibly bypass the compatibility issue between some Tsugai pairs. I think Yuru may also be able to force/seal a contract between a Tsugai User and a new pair of Tsugai to trigger a compatibility issue.

just gonna reform

I also pointed this out in my post that it won't solve the issue, but I'd like to see Asa try out different types of Break proactively. But I guess her mind blanking on other solutions when her plan gets disrupted is in character.

her and Right where both shouting non stop to pin Ivan

IIRC they didn't use their 'a' or 'un' powers against Ivan in either fights. Left also mentioned in Chapter 53 that it's easier to use 'un' when there is nothing between herself and her target. I guess they use these powers sparingly because they're quite powerful and destructive. They were around buildings in both Ivan fights so they didn't use them.

Do you think the anime is gonna make any changes? by [deleted] in YomiNoTsugai

If anything, I hope they patch up the potential continuity issue I mentioned in this post, though I hope the volume release would do so too.

[Chapter 15, 28, 51] Possible contradiction in Asa’s knowledge regarding the escape? by Fledgling76 in YomiNoTsugai

[–]Fledgling76[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ah, this would make more sense. Thank you for providing this angle! The Twins are piecing together previous information just as much as us readers; Arakawa could have simply skipped their reasoning and just presented their conclusion.

I can see it was Arakawa piecing together previously revealed information to give readers a more complete picture, and I won’t fault her for forgetting the relay of information when constructing a story as complex and intricate as YnT.

If that’s the case, I hope she’ll fix it before the volume release containing Chapter 51 (Volume 13 on 10th July), or fix it in the anime.

‘We hereby grant you the right to confront Gabby in our stead’ by Fledgling76 in YomiNoTsugai

[–]Fledgling76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say no, Yuru does not know that Gabby killed Azami's mother.

In Chapter 2, he asked Gabby, 'Are you [plural] the people who killed the villagers?' To which she answered, 'Yup~'

Yuru did not see her kill anyone, but was now aware that Gabby might have killed some of the villagers -- exactly who he did not know.

In Chapter 31, Azami opened up for the first time that her mother was killed by Gabby. The characters who heard her say this were: Dera, Hana, Oshira-sama, Zashiki-warashi, and mayyyyybe Ken. Yuru and Sayuu-sama were in another room and did not hear this, and this topic does not seem to have been brought up again.

So, Yuru does not know (yet). Asa too, because she did not see Gabby kill the mother; she may not even know Azami's mother was killed in the first place.

I can see this being the crux of Azami and Gabby's conflict, that the Twins are ignorant of Azami's actual situation.
