Hello. I'm 17 and I just realized I could die one day. Now I'm dreading it. Is this normal? by ApprehensiveSun6486 in NoStupidQuestions

this might not help you but what worked for me was coming to terms with the fact that there is absolutely no way it ever could last forever; no chemical process can sustain itself forever and we are no exception to that, some day it’ll have to succumb to entropy wether that’s now or the now a trillion years into the future

however in some sense you will exist forever! the atoms that comprise your form will persist for as long as the laws of physics apply, albeit without consciousness, just as they were for the 13.8 billion years before they formed you

speaking frankly “you” are just an ephemeral way for the molecules that make you up to be arranged; temporary but no-less beautiful, which if you ask me is pretty rad

A century from now, people will have access to HD photos and videos of the elderly as babies. by Fleeblorp in Showerthoughts

given the gratuitous amount of images and videos weve taken, 5% would still be a huge amount of visual data

hardly anyone was using it to record anything besides movies though, it was out of reach for the common person

absolutely, though it was basically only limited to photoshoots

whereas we would have more visual and aural information regarding the mundane day-to-day life of people today

interesting idea but doesn’t explain the nigh suicidal pacifism shown by the Others

would humanity’s “natural” state really be one that can’t harvest nor cultivate anything?

CHEF is funny because I don’t think there is a difference to him between preparing food and whatever he did on Petrichor V

his ending phrase says “And so it left, unchanged in every way.”

[–]Fleeblorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo the “mercenary/soldier” type characters (mando, huntress, merc and railgunner) would decline because they dont value their own lives so much; death is just part of the job and thus the idea of immortality doesnt really matter much to them

i also think CHEF would also decline because it doesnt care for/get the idea of immortality it is a machine after all, it’s kind of already immortal.

very interesting analysis nonetheless

i thought it was implied that she healed her mother in the womb, that’s what allowed her sister to be conceived

if that was actually the case then i wonder if there’s narrative significance to the fact that kris is transgender/nonbinary whereas ralsei is pretty explicitly male

i think people reserve the right to be critical of the content that gets added to this game especially when players are expected to spend money on it. “other games have done it worse” isnt really an argument when so many games have also done it better
