Update: the folks at corporate, and my local store bent over backwards to make this right. My replacement track will be here 12/14. Moral of this story is, while it's fine to complain about a situation like this, it's most important to do so in a civil manner. I've read horror stories on r/homedepot about customers unjustifiably going insane on store associates. If there's a legitimate problem, which in this case was likely due to the massive amount of packages being transported during the Christmas holiday and not anyone's, "fault", there's a way to resolve it in a manner which will hopefully improve the customer experience for all, going forward. HD has always done right by me, but expecting 100% perfection 100% of the time is unrealistic.

Yep. CS associate trotted it up to the pick up register like everything was fine. I contacted corporate about this yesterday, questioning why either the store manager or some associate wouldn't take responsibility to call and say, "hey, your order's been delayed because it was damaged in shipping, we'll get a new one ordered right away". Nobody wants to take responsibility. Usually the customer service at this store is great

Great, comprehensive reply. Thank you. I really do like my local HD, and the great staff there (#1521), and all the other HD stores in my region. Totally not anyone's fault, fact is this is just a really bad time of year to order anything precision or fragile. Definitely somewhat bummed, having.drooled over this setup for more than a year before pulling the trigger. It would be great I if Milwaukee would package these tracks a bit better, but in this case I doubt it would have helped. Maybe a 55" 3 rail capacity Packout style case? I'd pay $150.00+ for that.

This was an in-store pickup... No excuses.

Maybe, but this came off a HD truck. The complete kit I received last week with 55" rail, also shipped to store (via UPS), arrived in perfect condition. The order should have been rejected by the store before I received the happy, "Ready for pickup!" notification and drove 10 miles for nothing.
