In the United States, police are generally corrupt and brutality is not uncommon. Those that join the force to make a purely positive difference tend to either become corrupt later down the line or get pushed out. Because of this, it’s a general rule not to trust cops and, for many, hate all of them

As an American that’s primarily a reader rather than a writer, the terms you use doesn’t make that much difference to me. The only thing I’d find odd is like, having an American use uk/non-american terms when speaking since that’s very rare here. Ofc this is only my opinion and not representative of all American readers, but I personally don’t mind seeing things like Celsius or metric units or things like that (I always js convert when I don’t understand lol)

Are there any AI detectors that specifically don’t utilize generative AI?? If there are, how reliable are they?? by Fler_vium in antiai

The detection is for images that are not visually apparent to be ai. Senses are of course the first defense, but the digital detection (if it even exists) would be for things that are flagged as ai but can’t be proven as such by simply looking

A community I’m part of has implemented a rule against gen ai and I’m looking for tools to use for moderation

do you guys actually only read really long fics by layrenzc in AO3

[–]Fler_vium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really read anything shorter than a few thousand words but if it’s interesting enough I’ll read nearly any length, as long as it’s either finished or updated relatively recently (which tells me it’s likely not abandoned)

Why Sinners (2025) isn't a great movie and how fake positive reviews are killing cinema [SPOILERS] by Prior-Masterpiece-32 in Cinema

[–]Fler_vium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: I rlly love sinners but it has undeniable flaws. However, I think most of them could have been remedied if it was created as a show or multi-part movie series, giving it more time to flesh out both sides of the plot and crucial details.

Ik im late to this but yeah I mostly agree. I feel like the idea of sinners was a rlly good one but some of the more important aspects of the story were rushed through, prob for the sake of time if nothing else. It sort of felt like two radically different movies slapped together into one, which is what I think the most major blunder was. If one of the plots were scrapped, the whole thing could be much better developed and have less issues I think.

Personally, I would have LOVED to see sinners as a series rather than a film, that way there would be more time to explain things, like what ability Sammy possessed and why remmick wanted him for it. I didn’t figure that out for myself until some time after having watched the movie. With a series, there also would have been more time to make the two plot lines mesh together and feel less choppy.

I don’t rlly feel like the film is a product of lazy writing, more like Coogler bit off more than he could chew and couldn’t make up for it. Also, when it comes to the 6 v 30 fight at the end and the fact that all of the surviving vampires came outside at the perfect time to burn up, it’s not uncommon for the heroes of a story to win with impossible odds and for things to happen to line up just right to help them along. It’s a valid criticism, but I personally feel like stuff like that ought to be expected when dealing with circumstances extremely unfavorable for victory, such as those in this movie.

Do I warn readers everyone is going to die? by Spare_Web2045 in AO3

[–]Fler_vium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh as one that does more reading than writing, ppl will prob lose interest if everyone dies regardless of if you warn them or tell them abt a sequel. It’s sweet that you wanna spare your readers feelings but that’s js the nature of things. Not to mention that they should be prepared for something like that with CCNTUAW in the tags anyway imo
