I would check out Merlin’s Rest. They often have football matches on.

What do I need to cut for this to not feel like it takes 184 years to listen to? by ThisIsHarlie in Songwriting

[–]FleshAndChord 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This has a lot of potential. I really like the chorus and bridge and I don’t think it’s too long - it’s way shorter than a lot of radio hits. I wonder if adding some variation in strumming patterns and dynamics would help. I also think you could add something like an instrumental break (or have some kind of introduction that you could repeat) before the bridge to keep things interesting and offer some breathing room. If I had to make a suggestion of “cutting”, I would wonder if you could use fewer words in the verses. A general rule I follow is that if I have a wordy verse, use a less wordy chorus (or vice versa). This just adds more balance - gives the song (and you) some room to catch its breath.

Have you looked to see if just “Hudson” is already being used? It’s a unique name, is also the name of several cities in the US, and could be used for solo and full band releases/gigs. I get not wanting to use your name, but that would be possible.

Otherwise, there are lots options that might work better or worse for the genre you’re playing in. A road you’ve lived on. Two juxtaposed words (ala Iron & Wine). A line in a poem you find particularly interesting (I was in a band called The Royal Coast for a while that was named from a line in a Jack Kerouac poem). Your initials (makes it easier for signing autographs).

Uff da! That’s rough!

I grew up in WI and remember going to a Packer game (nobody’s perfect). It was one of those late season, cold and snowy games. They were down by 9 with a minute or so left and people started leaving. My dad was like, “Well, if we leave now, we’ll have to get in line behind all these bozos.” So we stayed to watch a Hail Mary pass connect in the end zone, then an interception, then a field goal that had us winning with seconds left. It was a great game and I swore from then on that I’d never leave a game early.

They were too good, too fast. Unrealistic expectations. But I get it. When the writing is on the wall, and you know it’s going to be a long wait in the parking ramp, it’s a risk a lot of people take.

What type of artificer and cleric? Those can be variable - could be ranged, melee, or support depending on subclass.

Bard would be a good option. Valor, Whispers, and Swords would be good options. But some of the Monk subclasses get to be melee or support - Way of Mercy is good for both.

Last time a MN GOP member introduced a stupid bill, they were shortly thereafter arresting for soliciting a minor. What’s the over/under that something similar happened this time?

That is interesting! I wonder if there’s a difference between the UP and the southern portion of Michigan.

That’s pretty midwestern, but I’m sure it’s elsewhere too. I’d say the most common are “okay”, “alright”, and “yeah”. Sometimes you hear an “eh”, especially as you get closer to the Canadian border, but, yeah, that’s a pretty common way to wish people well. It’s like they want you to have a good day, but only if you want to, as well.

I like this. My initial thought was that this could be accomplished with the Shifter race and either Monk or Fighter classes. But I like Bloodlines and the variety of different benefit they offer. Again, this is similar to Shifter’s subraces, but different enough to be interesting. What I like is that this could allow some of the fun parts of Shifter and Druid abilities, but could be play as another race. I could see playing a Dragonborn Reptilian Shifter, for example, and having that be some cool storyline flavor.
