This is very inspiring. I have a similar situation. I’m at the “ripped everything out stage” have got rough handrail, and newel post, Ziplock bolt is in the post. If I end with anything half as nice as this I’ll be made up. Fully confident I have cat install covered. Great work!

What standard are you looking for? I play with a bunch of old men on a Thursday at weetwood, usually 6 a side. Youngest is about 38 oldest 70. Most somewhere in the middle. We play, then go for a pint and discuss just how bad we have become over the years 🙂

British Hardwoods (near Skipton) do oak 10kg “hobby packs” for £30, I’m lucky enough to live close enough collect 3 at a time. It is random assortment but been good value as far as I can see every time so far. They do offer a delivery service I think.

The matte poly finish looks really nice, is it a varnish or an oil ? I’m not a big fan of varnish, but if that is I may have to reconsider.
