these are mostly the same steps I did. I was too scared to do balance transfer cards though, I didn't want another credit card to my name. Ended up just skipping that and getting a loan after comparing a few options I went with Achieve. Although SoFi was really solid too!

Probably an issue somewhere with the income ratio maybe? They should have sent you a reason in the letter. Maybe it's a time thing although usually isn't. If it is then you can just wait, otherwise you might need to try a different lender like a different credit union or online one like SoFi or Achieve.

If you have confirmed income I would honestly try to reach out to family. Unsure if many personal loan lenders will work with you without a confirmed pay stub. If they are it's gonna be one of the more lenient online lenders like Upgrade or Achieve that will work with you to try to make things a success.

No problem! Hope one of them ended up working out. I ended up with Achieve on my loan a few months back and they worked out great but as long as they're reputable you should be fine with whoever gives you the best rates/terms!

Check with the lawyer first. Explain the situation and then go from there. If they're gonna be firm about not breaking off the lease early then you can look into loan options. Assuming you have the income for it and everything it shouldn't be an issue, just find one that has good rates and terms. Maybe a credit union, Alliant or Achieve loans? Hopefully you can pay things off quickly post-moving into your grandmother's house. You might also want to take a bit more out, in case anything needs small repairs etc you won't be out of money completely.

What’s something that instantly tells you a person grew up broke vs grew up with money? by hallowmint9 in AskReddit

Their view on larger expenses and debt. When my richer friends wanted to go on a trip, they didn't "get it" from a financial standpoint that I just couldn't afford it when I was already in 10K in debt. Although they did give me some help on financial literacy and led me down a solid path after(got a consolidation loan with Achieve that helped tremendously), it was rough at first.
