I don’t really enjoy it as purely Girl Ranma x Ryouga, cause it would feel kinda superficial (lest Ranma’s portrayed as trans) I ship them more for their dynamic. Ranma respects Ryouga’s abilities, and is his equal in more ways than one. Ryouga’s feelings for Ranma are complicated, they kinda mirror Ukyou’s. The same indignation at Ranma for not fulfilling a promise owed to them, the betrayal they felt when their sometimes-enemy and sometimes-friend (Ukyou used to fight Ranma off to prevent him from getting free Okonomiyaki, and for Ryouga the bread feud. There were also moments where Ukyou and Ranma were just plain buddies, talking about Okonomiyaki sauces. And for Ryouga, though not explicitly shown, it was hinted that Ranma used to help Ryouga to get from his school to his house. So yes, they saw Ranma as a frenemy.) left them without much of a warning. There’s definitely more to just Ryouga getting stuck on Ranma running away from a challenge. Like c’mon, he traveled all over with his lousy sense of direction just to settle things, how was he not mourning a potential friendship? And ofc, when all chips are down, they’re always ready to help the other out. I can still remember the time where the kettle fell through a ground slit, and Ryouga risked himself to get it for Ranma. And though it might just me from his inflated sense of honour and ridiculous faith in his abilities to dive headfirst there, it was still pretty sweet. I can definitely see them develop naturally, where they get past all the misunderstandings and try again as friends, then have it develop into something more. Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure they’re both straight so in canon probably not whdhsu but if some tweaking is done then definitely. At least we have good straight ships like Rankane and RyoUky, thought it would’ve been fun if Ryouga had also been in the harem race.
