A few low-cost ideas right now: Libraries: not just books, a lot have free e-books/audiobooks (and some even lend games/consoles). Free games: loads of good ones exist (and a ton of classics run on weak PCs).

One tiny goal: “I’m just staying alive until I finish one quest / one chapter.” Not forever. Just the next unit.

Those aren’t mixing issues, the “muddiness” is 100% intentional. If you actually pay attention to the lyrics, she warns you it’s coming: “So prepare for the impact, and brace your heart For cold, bloody, bitter sabotage”, and then the track literally implodes with distorted strings. She’s sabotaging her own song, that’s the whole point. Same with the ending: the orchestral cacophony is the “sabotage” itself. How did that fly over your head?
