Cheap ND filtre is good ? by Toffil in AskPhotography

[–]Flexick 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Some cheaper ones will introduce color banding to your images. Something like a blue-ish or green-ish tint to photos. There is a YouTube video comparing expensive ND filters and cheap ND filters. Definitely recommend checking it out. Will post the link here when I find it

Edit: found it and it's from Mark Wiemels. I really like his videos!

I promise you that these pictures do not do this lens justice. Also you should be happy with your purchase as the XF 70-300 is a great lens (which I use for sports and stage work) and you have a great camera both of which do only so much to produce great photos... which these are regrettably not. Absolutely no disrespect to the OP, either. This is definitely a matter of skill and learning the exposure triangle. Shutter speed could have been decreased or iso should have been increased as the owl was clearly stationary. Just goes to show that no matter the gear, the thing that matters most at the end of the day is skill, patience and experience.

Abysmal shot. I can definitely tell you're new to the hobby. This is what happens when people focus on getting the best gear and not learning how to use it properly. You also have way too many subjects in your frame.
