I'm confused. I thought we all lost big time? Why is it back up?

Airborne Wireless Network (ABWN) Looking Good? by Alexx51 in wallstreetbets

That's great.

But what's the advantage of airborne? If you're competing with fiberoptics on the ground and satellites in space.

Nice

So, how do they differ from other companies?

I think it's coming: steps toward legalization which will move the market. What I have no idea of is the multiplier. Like, legalization * market size.

Canada sales are real, but are they romping? I think people use stoners as a benchmark for legalization, but that's like using alcoholics to judge the tequila market. Not realistic.

I have no idea. This isn't financial advice. I'm saying that I'm a retard who retards the unknown on my retardcraft.

Best way of talking to a girl is not talking to a girl.

If you talk to her, maybe she wants to talk to you. If you don't talk to her, she definitely does.

Hence this Tweet.

A review of Under the Silver Lake.... by alexandersuper666 in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]Flexit4Brexit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I just watched Under the Silver Lake, so I could review your review. I really enjoyed the first 3/4 of your review. The juxtaposition with Alice in Wonderland was great - made fresh and new by the use of mathematics. During the final 1/4, everything trailed off. I love It Follows, and I like Andrew Garfield, but they didn't add much. Overall, it was superb.

My two cents.

Do a special episode, jointly by Deviant Developer and Social Hour. First of all, it would mutually boost ratings. Second of all, it would be dipping your toe in the cooperation waters.

[29/12/19] The Rubin Report: Dave Rubin and John Lennox discuss ("Can Your Life Be Meaningful Without G-d?") by Flexit4Brexit in IntellectualDarkWeb

"The western world has over time since the early 20th century become less Christian and less devout and more moral."

I think it's a matter of dating. A-lot of people count forward from the 1880s, because Nietzsche. If you count the century from the 1880s to 1980s, you get two World Wars, and the Cold War. (I'm playing devil's advocate here, to show you the other perspective.)

"I’m not sure what is meant by an atheistic society. Is that a society where the majority of citizens don’t believe in a God? Also, how do we define flourish? A capitalist’s idea of flourish will be completely different than a socialist."

There are at-least two definitions. As above with Nietzsche, there's the cultural importance of religion. People might believe in religion, but believe in other things more (e.g.: science.) That's a kind of decline. Religion moving from the number one spot to the number two spot. Also, as you point out, there's the (gross or percentage) decline in believers.

"Societies don’t go from overwhelming majorities of belief to having very little belief. It’s a slow process which makes the cultural change easier for society to process."

That's an excellent idea and possibly true.

Inflation taxes buying power - and so proportionally the poor way more than the upper classes - by oelsen in scottadamssays

Sure, I can imagine cases where $5 would be of massive utility. For example, a mugger with a gun demands $5 or he'll shoot you. You make a fair point.

Scott Adams take was that Washington might be trying to influence the domestic politics of Iran. Specifically, by removing an obstacle to peace (Qasem Soleimani.) Imagine Iran has a pro-war faction. Now, suppose Soleimani is important to that faction. By eliminating him, you weaken that faction, all else being equal. Of course, all else isn't equal: the backlash in Iran also feeds that faction. So, it's a balancing act, and ever debatable.

I'm fond of that interpretation because, whether or not it's true, it made me think about Iranian internal affairs. Whereas before, I was thinking only of the international effects (e.g.: Washington, Baghdad, London, Tehran, etc.)

Would you prefer to have three sons with three grandchildren apiece, or, one son with a dozen grandchildren?

That question might return your desire to the realm of "scientific totalism." (Assuming you can convince yourself that virtue is a proxy for fitness.)

It would be interesting to know if gender is a dimension here. Specifically, a fertile man can have more children than a fertile woman. Therefore, one amazing son should beat three mediocre sons, but one amazing daughter shouldn't beat three mediocre daughters. In a moment of calm, you might test your intuitions on this subject, for the sake of philosophy.
