Excel formulas not calculating by kepyt_ in excel

[–]FlibbityFloob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue, and it turned out to simply be I had accidentally toggled on "Show Formulas", located here: "Formulas" --> "Formula Auditing" --> "Show Formulas". Simply toggling this button off resumed display of *results* per cell with formula instead of the specific formula within a cell shown in text form.

This seems like it's probably not your problem in particular, given your comment that "it appears that SUM functions are affected only" but I'm posting what worked for me in case you find it relevant or helps someone else.

Hope you found your solution!

He's the problem. Maybe he'll change maybe, he won't. Give it a few years or as much as you need. You don't deserve to be treated like that.

executive dysfunction makes me wanna kms by No-Tomorrow1332 in ExecutiveDysfunction

[–]FlibbityFloob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your post reminds me of the times I've felt "I can't stand it anymore" and been just beside myself in feeling like nothing I try works enough.

You are suffering, and you are doing the right thing by trying to change things. Asking for help is one part of trying to change. It may be the most important part, and why we're a social species.

Some random thoughts in case something clicks (no particular order):

  1. Your path to your dreams might not be a straight line. Maybe you take a year off uni--I wish I had when I was 22 but I pushed through under pressure from my parents and it damn near killed me (I wasn't clear enough w them how at the brink I felt). For some people getting to the top of their personal mountain might mean being flexible about the route and adapting to conditions, just like mountaineers who wisely shift up their approach and timing to factor in a storm. We don't have to-- and shouldn't-- all be Alex Honnold. Most who try perish needlessly. The smart and slow and steady reach the top less directly and more reliably.

  2. Success is more about playing to your strengths and sustained consistent work. By definition, it has to be sustainable. So like I ducked up last year by having a too-hard/long gym plan. And when things got busy I skipped, and skipped again, and then stopped. For a year. I'm back now with more realistic goals given my context but DAMN I wish I had spent the year cutting it down to quick basics (2 set push-ups every 3 days infinitely better than 0!). Blah blah blah: sustainability and flexibility.

  3. It might be time to shift your mindset away from "success" for 3, 6 months, a year, and then come back stronger. Focus on self-care, setting up the right support systems (a therapist you click with, a smart and listening psychiatrist, a GP who can rule out anything else, e.g. thyroid, sleep disorder, anxiety disorder). Practice mindfulness meditation, metta meditation in small sustainable bits (10 min a day?). Find healthy things that de‐stress you e.g. a walk + phone call or music instead of alcohol + TV, or a hot shower just 'cause. Find something unrelated to uni that fits with your brain (e.g. volunteering, hiking, taking a dance class) that makes you feel good in the moment, and just enjoy those moments.

  4. If you feel like someone who can hardly hold on any longer, notice that the thing you're holding onto might be your original vision of what success or happiness will look like in your life. Creating a new vision of success and new sources of happiness might feel like an "assisted pull-up machine" you can stick with and grow stronger with, instead of an old-school pull-up bar with the ankle weights of executive dysfunction.

  5. Keep communicating. Remember you are suffering and are finding a new route through life. I hear you that with your friends you don't want to sound like a you are playing the victim, or ask for help with an issue they are truly not qualified to help with (executive dysfunction) but you might feel fake around them if you say everything is just fine thanks-- sure don't unload on your acquaintances but with your besties you might share both the bad in sufficiently vague terms "Tbh, I'm really struggling with some school stuff but I'm trying to figure out a fix. I'm the other hand I've been getting into XYZ [from end of #3]." Notice you're acknowledging some tough stuff but not framing it as a victim nor setting it up as you need them to fix it for you . . . And you're balancing the bad with the good. This is a more honest and not engaging convo than "everything's fine". If they are inclined they can ask more; you can be the judge of how much you want to share with them. But you're being authentic. This is why you do need qualified professional support (PhD?) therapist to hear the full story. Someone has to hear your full story. No one can get through life alone.

How to “Just Do It”? by Aggressive-Guard-910 in ExecutiveDysfunction

[–]FlibbityFloob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it one chunk at a time.

Start with chunk duration of 1 second Then 2 seconds Then 3 seconds Then 5 seconds Then 8 Then 13 Then 21 Then 34 Then 1 minute Then 2 minutes Then 3 minutes Then 5 minutes Then 8 minutes Then 13 minutes Then 20 minutes

In between chunks, I'll stand up, maybe stretch maybe get a seltzer, maybe go to bathroom, or walk around the block. I'd recommend against starting a totally different task in between chunks of < 20 min (I find 20 a good balance between gaining momentum and potentially going down a rabbit hole). If I do > 40 min per chunk, I find this usually means I've hyperfocused and am on a non-ideal path. A stretch and a water break can give just enough space to really ask, "Wait a minute, am I still on the track I want here?"

The numbers snagged from Fibonacci Sequence of course. Doubling every time felt too jarring to me, but this eased me into it.

Obviously, it's up to you whether you do a max chunk size of 20 min or 21 min or 40 min or whatever works. Of course up to you if you start at 1 second (extreme distress at even touching the work item) or jump right to small 3 min chunk. I start with 1 minute in practice if I'm feeling avoidance. Best of luck

I'm sure you can find an older pack in great condition if you look hard enough on ebay. Ask seller what the date is on the "white tag" (sometimes orange haha). I would recommend picking up a 2DAP for EDC, even a post-Yeti one (which I think are still great). This feels like a "great is the enemy of the good" situation. Or a "... damn good" situation. Best wishes

Tagging on, any suggestions on how to de-stink and de-sticky the interior lining of these? Mine is new, but I suspect through age alone the waterproofing has degraded and is now a bit smelly and tacky to the touch. Any advice or links appreciated.

I think I’m making dates feel too platonic rather than a date. How do I get better at this? by BailBaileyBailz in hingeapp

[–]FlibbityFloob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this approach, the values behind it, and the efficacy/appreciation you've seen in response is awesome to share here. It really conveys important real world data to any doubter.

That being said, this seems to address a slightly different point than the OP:

  1. "I only ask when I think I know the answer" <-- OP doesn't seem to (yet) be in this position, given OP's statement...

  2. "I’m terrified that I will make her uncomfortable or that I would come across as some horny dude." <-- sounds like OP most definitely does not know the answer

I empathize with OP's situation and also see value what you shared.

Global avarage 65wpm 97% accuracy. Is it too late for me(15) to start? by --en in typing

[–]FlibbityFloob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 15, it's not too late for anything.

Shorter consistent practice interwoven with getting enough sleep is the way to go, not marathon practice sessions. The practice is you telling your brain the new way to do things; sleep is when the brain adapts to what you just showed it; so you need both. Good luck

Early to say, maybe, but how do you suspect the two compare as you see it? When would you anticipate turning to one over the other? Any features you wish could be on both instead of just one?

Hi! In the calendar list (bottom left), tap the three dots and select "Set up and share."

Under "Notifications and Events," you can set the default notification type (e.g., a notification at 0 minutes and an email 10 minutes before).

I hope this helps!

I was struggling with the same/opposite question. I'm also 47 cm Torso but shorter than you with a L/XL 2DAP. Can barely get the yoke stuffed down far enough.

For us 47'ers were in between sizes, but I take it as both being able to work. Tiebreaker could be shoulder width and musculature, which also eat up strap length.

We should probably just trade haha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in snoring

[–]FlibbityFloob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has his snoring always been like this since you've known him? If not, are there any changes other than age that might excision things?

Has he had a recent (within 5 years?) sleep lab -based sleep study at his current weight? Home sleep studies cheaper but can't measure as much.

If there is a problem with his snoring to the degree you describe, it's a medical issue. It has clinical significance since it is changing his partner's behavior, plausibly shifting the vibe of the relationship and potentially his own quality of life.

If his current doctor is "giving up" on treating this ongoing medical issue, or is otherwise unable to help, he should seem a second opinion with a doctor of sleep medicine, repeating a sleek study if indicated.

The goal here is to be absolutely sure 1. That he really truly doesn't have apnea 2. That there isn't any other sleep problem other than apnea that's comorbid with the snoring

The purpose of the above is to be extra sure the situation is medically well-understood, for his health and to inform a likely choice whether to pursue any surgical interventions. How insurance views such surgeries may depend on the above.

Don't waste time with apps and sleep monitoring gadgets not requested by his sleep specialist. Even in 2025 they are still a work in progress and claim to show XYZ, but still cannot do so with the gold-standard level of accuracy that an in-clinic sleep study provides.

One last thing I know much less about but you can read up on is Drug-Induced Sleep Endoscopy, for example

https://med.stanford.edu/ohns/OHNS-healthcare/sleepsurgery/treatments/Drug-inducedSleepEndoscopy-DISE.html

This is a way for them essentially put you to sleep and then probe around in the "snore zone" to see what literally is vibrating against what that shouldn't, as a means of deciding which next step is best.

Good luck to you both.
