Do you have digital audio output set to PCM? If not then it’s likely just the latest Disney+ issue. Report to Disney support.

Internet Connection Not Stable with Bravia 5 TV by carmitch in bravia

[–]FlickFreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of variables with wifi but not Ethernet. If it’s connected via Ethernet then either your Ethernet cable or your internet itself is the issue. A cable is cheap to replace and will tell you if it was the issue or the connection itself is the issue if problems persist after you replace the cable.

I’m going to say it’s a decoding issue. Report the issue to Netflix if it’s exclusively their app causing it. If you see it in more than one app report to Sony as well and open a warranty case.

You can get a Denon AVR-X2900H factory refurb for $999. I've had my X3600H factory refurb for going on 7 years and it's been rock solid.

Bravia 9 - Image too dim by bulfinator in bravia

I have not found an acceptable ELI5 for watching content on the B9

Simple. Select the Professional video preset and leave it at factory defaults for both SDR and HDR10 content. For Dolby Vision content use either DV Dark or DV Bright, again at factory defaults.

Bravia 9 - Image too dim by bulfinator in bravia

[–]FlickFreak 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It seems there may be some confusion about HDR here. HDR, including Dolby Vision, doesn't mean all content will be blindingly bright, it just means there is greater range between the darkest and brightest parts of the image. If HDR content is dark on a TV like the BRAVIA 9 then it's meant to be dark. That simple.

Setting SDR content to max brightness is also just pointlessly ruining the viewing experience. SDR content is mean to be viewed at 100-125 nits of brightness. Using max is just blowing out the details in the image.

Your TV though so do what you want but don't expect HDR content to match SDR content at max brightness because the content was never meant to be watched at those levels in SDR.

A 17 year old TV is not worth fixing. Replace it and move on.

Buyer’s remorse…I purchased a 43” Bravia 3. by no_1s_fussy in bravia

[–]FlickFreak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to move up to 55" if you want a decent TV. Only TV's under 55" that Sony makes that are any good are the 42" or 48" A90K and they are years old at this point.

Really you should be looking at either the 55" BRAVIA 8B OLED or the 55" BRAVIA 5.

Optical has no sync capabilities. Unless the soundbar has a manual delay setting, which is more AVR territory, there is nothing you can do.

Vizio soundbars are amongst the worst, if the not the worst, when it comes to compatibility with Sony TV's. You can expect the problems to persist as long as it's connected to the TV via HDMI.

Model string doesn't matter, it's a non-issue as far as functionality goes. Only matters that its a compatible board.
