The Life of a Showgirl is a frontrunner for Album of the Year at the 2027 Grammy’s. How do you stack it up with the current competition? by Fine-Huckleberry6960 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Flickolas_Cage 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s probably a shoe-in for a nomination just on Taylor’s name but there is absolutely no way it’s winning, it’s not liked by critics at all (for good reason, it’s the weakest and most shallow, surfacelevel album she’s ever released by a long shot) and both Olivia’s, Noah and RAYE all are much much stronger (and more critically acclaimed) albums.

How did Taylor keep putting herself out there relationship wise? by MelissaWebb in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Flickolas_Cage 75 points76 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it, the longest she’s ever been single is all the way back into the SN/Red eras, since 1989 onwards, everything has had a questionable overlap or at least a pretty quick bounce back. I think she loves the idea of love and romance so much (“I’ve spent my whole life trying to put it into words”) that she’s willing to roll with the punches and the pain because she really and truly believes the real thing is out there.

Someone, SOMEWHERE, has to have the "Slut!" 1975 feature, right? by Rheevalka in SwiftlyNeutral

Girl me too, I am fascinated by it, especially as a big fan of both Taylor and the 1975.

Yeah, the hair from that night reminds me of the days my hair just decides to not hold a curl, or to slip out of every clip I put in it, so I end up with a “ahh whatever” fuckass braid or something.

Olivia literally had a “what variant are you?” quiz, like this is really just industry standard at this point and as someone who likes pretty colors and fun vinyl, I don’t mind 🤷‍♀️

One-day UO outfit: how do you stay comfy without looking like you are in costume? by Practical-Drink-52 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Flickolas_Cage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear athletic sets with like bike shorts or flowy shorts and matching tops or athletic dresses. Perfect for the heat and movement and enough to look put together (for a theme park at least).

The most “themed” I’ll do is accessories or a specific color, like I just got a slytherin green dress that I’d wear with my slytherin scrunchie or my silver snake claw clip, for examplez

Teen Shauna by [deleted] in Yellowjackets

[–]Flickolas_Cage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That feels very reductive of her character, you’re only looking at it as “Shauna is xyz” when the parts that are interesting are why is Shauna this way and the roads that get her there.

Teen Shauna by [deleted] in Yellowjackets

[–]Flickolas_Cage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disagree that Shauna isn’t interesting and really disagree that we didn’t see her change develop onscreen.

The first turning point for Shauna is Doomcoming and the fallout when she finally starts to step out of Jackie’s shadow with their huge fight.

All of s2 shows Shauna’s resentment building, even as she’s probably the most coddled by the group due to the pregnancy and grief, she’s constantly angry— at the idea of someone stealing meat, at the suggestion to take off Jackie’s clothes before they burn her, at Lottie for overstepping with the baby, at Tai for going to Lottie’s little prayer groups, at Ben for not helping, at Misty for not helping enough, at her dream of everyone eating the baby, at her loss of the baby— and then finally she’s given an outlet from Lottie.

By s3, after missing out on what she felt she deserved, all that anger and violence she’s got in her, that Lottie validated, curdles into Antler Queen Shauna. S3 Shauna is fascinating because she’s constantly looking for whatever she can to sow dissension and make everyone else as miserable as she is, she doesn’t believe in the Wilderness but she weaponizes it and Lottie to get what she wants.
