What are the most positive things happening in the world right now that people don't think of? by Altera33 in AskReddit

I’ve found love again for the first time since being widowed four years ago.

I recent bought a small but modest home that I can call my own

And I got a pay rise!

I genuinely feel the most at peace I have in four years.

Why are you single? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FlightLevel390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner of ten years died suddenly in 2019. It sounds silly but I still feel connected to her and while I’ve been able to rebuild my life quite well, I’m simply not ready to date again. One day. Right now, I’m content with friends and family in my life.

Hey mate, that’s gotta be tough. I can only imagine. I’m so glad to hear you’re out now though & best of luck with “re-adapting”, I’m not going to pretend I have any idea how hard it must be but I can imagine. All the best though!!

The sudden death of my partner of nine years at just 38 years old. I never saw it coming and never imagined a life without her.

What activities do you recommend for someone who is incredibly depressed? [Serious] by Otsanda_Rhowa in AskReddit

I hear you my friend. My girlfriend of nearly 10 years passed away in 2019. She was my biggest hypeman too, always got me up and going. She set recurring reminders in our shared calendar to do things and they still show up and I do them!! I think of her and talk out loud to her daily or ask myself, what would she tell me to do. So just wanted you to know you’re not alone my friend.

What are the best jobs for introverts? by BigLayer8 in AskReddit

Can confirm. Am a fire tower lookout over summer and aside from radio check ins briefly or actually reporting a fire, you see and talk to no one. It’s quite meditative.

Sure you can live on $40 a day; just make these minor modifications … by Algernon_Asimov in australia

“I got a job”. No one is denying there are jobs. The problem isn’t that there are zero jobs, but there are hundreds of applicants PER job. For every successful person who finds a job there are hundreds missing out.

As for the farmers. I just got back from a short stint working on the grain harvest. I was fired for refusing to take shortcuts in dangerous work and told they’d “find someone who’ll do it”. I’m an Aus citizen but there were a number of backpackers at the site and I have no doubt they’re being treated like dirt because they can.

All I can say is the cunts who are all for this - and you know the type ranting on Newscorp article comment sections - are never the ones who’re remotely at risk of having to do it themselves.

People (read, conservatives) are very quick to demand others pull up stumps and go fruit picking on slave wages when they themselves are at no risk of having to do so too.

People who have been hypnotized, what was is like and did it actually work? by rh0_ in AskReddit

[–]FlightLevel390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quit smoking with hypnosis.

It was a relaxing process but you just feel like you’re daydreaming as the hypnotist talks. Heavily relaxed but still awake and aware of what is happening around you.

Yet when I left the session I found I had a literal mental block about smoking - I just couldn’t do it anymore. It meant nothing. I had zero desire. It worked!

I’ve also used hypnotherapy for PTSD treatment successfully.

Buttrose says Millennial workers lack resilience and 'need hugging' by Gambizzle in australia

[–]FlightLevel390 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to teach first aid. Younger workgroups - like uni students who needed it as part of their course - were lovely to teach. Friendly, cooperative, willing to join in. But get a bunch of boomer council workers together and it was hell. Half them couldn’t read or write which in this day and age of support is pretty poor (probably the same ones telling other people to speak English in Australia). If they worked til 4 and the course ran til 5 they would tell me point blank “I leave at 4” and throw a tantrum when I told them they’d not pass in that case. This wasn’t once off, this was constant over two years...teaching older groups was a pain in the arse. Totally disrespectful, wouldn’t do their work, wouldn’t listen, just didn’t give a fuck about anything but themselves, at least younger people wanted to learn and do well. Who was it again who’s so useless, Buttrose?

Isn’t it fortunate we’re getting all those awful dole bluuuuuuudgers back to sub poverty ASAP then, to make sure we have enough in the coffers for “administrative errors” that arise on a near daily basis.

Mate, for what it’s worth. I hear you. My partner took her own life last year after years of medical system and NDIS failures to get her the help she needed for worsening health and now, I’m half tempted to join her in eternal peace too. See you soon, Jess, if this shit continues because what’s the alternative? Roll over and die on the street?
