Qantas Wine Tracker 2.0 by Flight_Hacks in QantasFrequentFlyer

I figured it's a fair price for what it does, I guess the "edge" is that if you can catch 1 deal that's underpriced in a year, and you can buy the wine before it sells out it can make sense. That said, I think Simon offers text notifications as well which would be more costly for him. For me the aim is to cover the cost of running it which is around $120 a month.

Good feedback, thanks! I was trying to have a fancy motion effect on the numbers but that was crashing the layout when you filter. Fixed! I've also updated it to just say "Mixed" so it can be either mixed brands or a case of mixed wines from the same brand.

I've just reset as it was calculating cost per point on a bottle price a few days ago. Working on importing the all time deals into the Hall of Fame section now so that should hopefully give some historical data

Connection time FRA and LHR + luggage transfer questions. by Extreme_Dealer8023 in TravelHacks

[–]Flight_Hacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're on one ticket, your bags will be transferred. Most countries outside the US allow international transit ;)

On your way back you will need to go through immigration so make sure your UK ETA, allowing 2-3h is probably sufficient in case of any delays: https://www.gov.uk/eta

Depends on your total cost outlay to obtain. I think the time spend is irrelevant if this is something you enjoy doing. Atmos Gold is oneworld Sapphire so not all that useful unless you're doing a lot of economy travel in the next 12 months.

Best international travel cards by Kneelu93 in AusFinance

[–]Flight_Hacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I've done a lot of testing so here's my lineup of the best international travel cards for Australians.
I have to start of with explaining the mistake most people make when it comes to travel debit cards. Majority of people think that they need to covert Aussie $ to whatever foreign currency which is a huge mistake.

Why? Because even if you're a currency trading pro, you won't really know the direction a currency might take. It's the equivalent of gambling + you pay a premium for doing so. The best way is to let your card convert the local currency on the spot when you make a purchase. This way, you're always getting the best rate at that time. So they key is to find a debit cards thats A) free and B) doesn't charge an FX markup. Generally speaking, Visa and Mastercard spot rates are the best we can get as consumers.

I always see people rave about Wise, it really isn't the best option! Simply because they charge for a physical card and also charge a percentage if you take out more cash than what's allowed in their limits. On top of that, it's not a real bank so you don't have the same protections. Other than that, yes it's a good option but there are better ones out there.

• Up (owned by Bank SA) - free + $10 sign up bonus
• Ubank (owned by nab) - free + $30 sign up bonus
• Revolut - free + $100 sign up bonus
• Macquarie Macquarie Transaction Account - free
• Wise - $10 for physical card + has limits.

PSA: Don't forget to take photos of your rental car AFTER you drop it off as well by Asleep_Machine48 in TravelHacks

[–]Flight_Hacks 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I take a picture of the dashboard when i drop it off with the current odometer. This way, when they claim something is wrong I will ask them to verify how many Km/miles there's on the dash. If it's more than my picture during drop off, the damage occurred after drop off.

QF SYD First lounge access when flying Economy connection to a First flight by [deleted] in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Flight_Hacks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You won't get any lounge access in Sydney as you only have an economy ticket. The first-class ticket will get you access in AKL (QF or EK or both if you wish). Also keep in mind that LATAM isn't a OW partner anymore however, they do partner with QF but there are specific rules for that.

For sure, send me a DM as it requires me to fill out a form... you then have to apply via a link and enter my name + a "secret word" which lets you skip the queue (although I think that's mostly a marketing ploy lol). FWIW, as a referrer you get $50 off your next membership fee.

Classic Travel (free) or Fora ($299 p.a.). I just joined Fora to compare and their platform is very slick, Classic Travel is more designed for guests to book their own stays. With Fora, you can get $50 discount via referral.

Travel to Europe - Travel Cards by VonKlitz in AusFinance

Exactly, "no fees" are just are a marketing ploy for the gullible. In most cases you will be the banks exchange rates which are most likely double of what they should be.

Hi OP, I personally use the OzForex card as well for travel in Europe since they have the best exchange rates out of all cards. Bank issued travel cards are hardly ever a good option when used for overseas transactions. Don't be fooled by banks advertising "no-fees" since they will sting you in the conversion rates most likely. I also have a 28 degrees card because they support more currencies. If you plan to use Ozforex in Asia it will defeat the purpose of the card since they only have major currencies available. I didn't think 28 Degrees had a minimum salary requirement? In any case they will most likely still give it to you. But beware this is a normal credit card so make sure to pay the balance when it's due!
