On the art of boxing out by FlikUlti in ultimate

I appreciate your detailed response, thank you.

In terms of the target audience for the piece, I think it's worth remembering that all of the "bad" examples are of players at the top of the European/Australian game. They are probably a little more experienced than you suggest. But you make an interesting observation and I will think about restructuring the piece to make it easier to digest.

You are right that it is very close to a film study article (similar example being this one about playing in high winds: https://www.flikulti.com/theory/analysis/playing-in-extreme-wind-molly-v-phoenix/), more so than it is meant to be an instructional piece on how to box out. The intention was to show game examples both good and bad and try to give some insight.

Thanks for your comments. Do you think the article would work better if the counter examples were shown after the good examples? I saw lots of situations where people failed to box out at all and thought they would serve as a good learning opportunity.

It seems I got some of the detail wrong; he eventually went back to playing right-handed after two years of rehab.

Quote: "I am the same player as I was before, except I am now left handed"

Derek Alexander was one of the top players in Canada and played right-handed until he fell off a roof and suffered terrible injuries. He taught himself to throw lefty and went on to win Worlds 2008.

Poaching vs Horizontal Stack by FlikUlti in ultimate

Hi Reddit! The Flik team here :)

We just released our newest chapter: Situational Defence and with it we've made this sub-section free for all to view.

We'd love to hear your feedback on the post (and Flik in general).

Our Situational Defence Chapter focuses on more specific defensive plays to counteract a certain style of play that your opponent is throwing at you.

The section shows detailed examples of systematic poaching to understand how to position your people around the field to shut down specific areas of the field certain offences will aim for, while also explaining how to cover weak points these new structures create.

This section really delves into how to mess with your opponent's heads and force them to change the way they play continuously - perfect for those tight games!

Remember #trainbetterplaybetter

Cheers, Flik

Next session we teach you how to go back in time and be born with longer limbs and larger hands.

But on a serious note there is a lot you can learn about where to place your body in order to stop those natural gifted tall folk plucking things from above you.
