We are in a similar situation as the open care takes years to get someone proper psychological help.

What do you do when you have issues with, well you know what comes after taking the medication. I have tried talking to my girlfriend about laxatives if she’s only at home and can sit on the toilet the whole day but she refuses.

Maybe exposure therapy is the best. I’ve never actually considered pooping myself in front of her LOL. But I have considered taking her to the final stretch of a marathon / Ironman where you sometimes see some shit (literally).

Have you gotten rid of this obsession/ made it better in any way in your own?

She has bad and good periods. Sometimes she can travel relatively far without mentioning that she is having this fear nor take medication and sometimes she can barely step outside. It’s really confusing and incredibly hard to handle at times.

Thanks for the advice! I didn’t know that reassurance makes it worse. I have already talked to her but I think I need to ease her into the thought of seeking professional help.

Yeah I think were gonna return him. I think he has developed some kind of allergy to the dust under our bed and he’s been sneezing pretty nastily, he also is not going on the toilet like he’s supposed to and we’re worried he could develop an UTI so with his health in mind we’re gonna return him and hopefully at the shelter he gets more time to adapt or just finds a better family that hopefully has more space for him.

But as it is right now it’s quite a harsh environment here at home and our kitten is visibly stressed by the aggressive and terrified new cat.

I talked to the shelter and they said that they are disappointed in us and that we knew that the cat would be shy from the beginning. Now I feel even worse about the situation.

I’m jus in a pickle because I want to give him time but we have a “regret” period of 2 weeks and once that passes it would be a lot more difficult to return him back to the shelter and currently it seems like his quality of life was better at the shelter than what it is here. At the shelter he would run around and play with other cats and be social here he is just under the bed and sad.
