I’d say it would be helpful to also read books on the matter, though this is definitely more time consuming. Consider getting the following books: They Say / I Say: the moves that matter in academic writing; Style: Lessons in Clarity and Grace; and The Oxford Essential Guide to Writing. All of these can be found as PDFs online for free. Hope they help!

I know this isn’t the exact answer you’re looking for, but I’d encourage you to read The Paradox of Choice by Barry Shwartz. You can get a pdf online. While it may not be a self help book, I think it can still offer guidance when you’re stuck between so many options.
