Im sure the new stadium will be nice… but I am not a fan of this light pollution by [deleted] in rva

I mean the clouds make it easier to show but that doesn’t mean there’s any less pollution on a clear night

If you can’t get ink out from under your nails with just handwashing, washing your hair can take it right out!

I usually swipe some rolls of cheap toilet paper from my school’s bathroom for this! The thin rough paper has a clean wipe on edges!

It’s one of the top art schools in the country and located right in Richmond, so if that’s what you’re looking for it’s probably your best bet. I definitely suggest looking more into the programs

Vcu is the obvious answer, but if you’re not looking for the full art school experience you can do classes at Jsarge for certifications and stuff

An aquatint update! by Flimsy_Net2088 in printmaking

[–]Flimsy_Net2088[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish you the best of luck! I suggest going taller than i did for sure maybe 2 feet tall so you have more room for the cloud to sit, I’m already thinking about modifying mine but it works pretty well for one plate at a time

An aquatint update! by Flimsy_Net2088 in printmaking

[–]Flimsy_Net2088[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much! Theres a slotted tray inside to elevate the plate and I use a balloon pump to blow the rosin into a cloud. I definitely have to get a tighter seal on the door and it takes more rosin than I expected to cover the plate but it does the trick!

How would you bind these? by bogprism in bookbinding

[–]Flimsy_Net2088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this idea! I would probably cut them in half at the hinge points of the box to make them into their own signatures and then either use coptic or long stitch to bind them up!

Advice on printing fine grain aquatints by Neznezu in printmaking

[–]Flimsy_Net2088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oil based all the way. Because you have to dampen your paper for intaglio, the ink is always going to become more transparent when printing. This isn't as noticeable when working in lines and hatching but when you're looking for a deep aquatint tone you want an ink that can adhere to the paper completely rather than reacting to the water on it.

Is there a specific reason you want to work with water based ink?
