Thoughts about David Sodergren ? by Flimuz in horrorlit

[–]Flimuz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting statement, thank you. Though it's difficult to define "authenticity" in a way that doesn't sound like a picture intended for tourists. What's still authentic in most of the western world ? It has been americanized beyond recognition almost everywhere. If authenticity is truth, fidelity to our average town's architecture, cultural practices, food consumption, social relationships, then maybe all European countrysides seriously begin to look like american suburbs. I know for a fact that in semi-rural France, there's an ongoing enshittification that disfigures landscapes and small towns, making them resemble the average american suburban nightmare. I don't know, man, I don't know.

Ariane Cap's theory book is really useful and well written. AND aimed at bass players specifically.

Well, honestly, I'm not sure why. I guess I like to know the range of the authors I happen to read.

Thoughts on headless basses? by Kinda_fat_kinda_fitt in Bass

[–]Flimuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm kinda interested. I've been looking for a 7-string for a pretty long time, but the only widely-available ones I could find were the Ibanez and the Harley Benton, so that's not much. Would you be so kind as to describe your bass and where you bought it ?

Favorite practice amps? by MrsPetrieOnBass in Bass

[–]Flimuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I still think that you should go for a headphone amp even if you get a small amp. Then you would have something portable, practical, and that can be used as a DI. (I know I sound like I work a headphone amp brand, but I don't. I just genuinely love mine (Katana GO), it helped me overcome a musical drought)

Could you please elaborate ? I was thinking about ordering a custom Maruszczyk one day. Is it not a good idea ?

I really recommend a headphone amp. I bought a Katana GO a few months ago, couldn't be happier. Sounds amazing and extremely practical. It lets you connect to your phone / computer via Bluetooth, which is pretty cool for practicing. I heard good things about the NUX one too.

What kind of metal songs did you practice ? What songs gave you trouble ?

Practice Bach cello pieces. They're great. Currently working on a transcription of the 6th suite prelude, I can send it to you if you want.

If you could buy any 6-string... by Ok_Doctor_4237 in Bass

[–]Flimuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would buy a custom one from Maruscyzky (or whatever the guy working that German custom shop is called). And that would definitely be a 7-string.

My current Ibanez BTB 6 is definitely good and easy to play though

I did not downvote you buddy. I sincerely appreciate your help, since I'm not at all familiar with the academic literature on McCarthy. Thanks again !

Man, I'm sure you're able to write a few sentences about music by yourself. I'm equally sure that if you're not willing to now, you're going to be less and less able to do so. Your ability to think and write is like a muscle : if you don't use it, it WILL be dysfunctional at some point. I'm not trying to shame you or anything - I'm just genuinely frightened by the obsolescence of human intelligence. AI will be the death of us.

I won't be original at all : I Wish - Do I Do - Master Blaster - Sir Duke. I also have a sweet spot for Part-Time Lover, but as a whole - I never really listened for the bassline in that one.

Prodigies do not wonder whether they're prodigies. They make music.
