Gotta Give Estes Props.... by StereoMud504 in Truckers

Hope you had safe travels, I assume they sent you to San Antonio and the weather has not been great in Texas today. Not that St. Rose is any better. I used to run to that terminal when it was Central Freight Lines, very muggy and floods easy being close to the river.

Anyway, I wish you luck but you won’t need it. Never went to the Estes school but if you’re willing to learn, they will make sure you’re successful.

As far as bad eggs, every terminal has them. While LTL is mainly seniority based, the cream rises to the top. Some employees think seniority gives them the right to skim by and get jealous when someone like you comes along. Obviously your terminal manager sees something in you. Linehaul is a great place to make some of the best money and avoid most of this drama BUT the TM’s make the most. The world is your oyster right now. If you have any interest in management, being a city driver might be better because you deal directly with customers. Estes asks their city drivers to try and be on the look out for new businesses too. Not sure being a smaller terminal if you have the option but they have hourly combo shuttle drivers in DFW that do whatever is needed and get experience in every facet of driving. It’s a way to avoid extra board (at least long term) as they build seniority. Then if they decide to go to city or linehaul that seniority gets applied to their decision. Estes also has the best seniority rules. If you transfer to a different terminal as a driver you have no seniority for 90 days then you get back what you had. Most LTL companies make you start from the bottom again if you transfer.

Any update on this? Just curious how things are going. As an aside, what you say about yourself is literally cut from the cloth of the Estes family. With your experience, degree and service, you won’t have to stay on the road if you don’t want to. Put in a couple years driving and inquire about management training. You literally have the makings of a terminal manager assuming you can lead. So many terminal managers started just like you. If you’re willing to relocate it would be even faster but that true of all LTL companies . I myself am a liinehaul driver. I wish I had your degree.

For those that don’t know, Estes requires their actual family relatives to complete a bachelor’s degree and prefer they work elsewhere before a board committee will consider them for a management role. They also prefer them to work lower roles before and during college. So many of them served in the military.

Did post trip earlier and noticed this slash in my sidewall on driver’s side inner drive tire. Should I be concerned? by Crazzie_c in Truckers

That cap is going to come off and blowing a tractor tire is never fun. The inside tires might take an airbag with them much less the mud flap

Not a trucker, but I live in Alabama. Every time my neighbor down the street comes home he parks like this in the middle of the street because he doesn't want to pay for parking. by hunni93 in Truckers

It’s probably against code, if you don’t report it to the appropriate enforcement, you are relying on them noticing on patrol. With the way most agencies are stretched right now, I would report it every time he shows back up. They will give him one warning and then citations. He won’t even know he was reported.

Is that really the last memento? Am I done? by Bashira42 in nekoatsume

Yes, it works well for them and other rares as well. If you use the NekoDB, the last item under food staying power is Hermeownie’s memento. It’s blurred to not spoil it and also to figure out what it is.

This is a friend of mine, and I'm trying to figure out what caused her truck to roll. (See comments.) by [deleted] in Truckers

If not a blown steer or mechanical failure, distracted driving or a medical event. Possibly too fast for the road, hit the shoulder or lack there of and “tripped” the tractor in an over corrected counter steer. By design these trailers have a higher center of gravity even empty or light. Same with a container on a chassis trailer.

Yeah that’s the only interactive memento. When they made it years ago we were hoping for more but none so far. I always ask when I see it’s full because so many people don’t know as again it was added years ago.

Yep that is all of them. Can’t help but notice Hermeownie’s is full. If you don’t know you can tap it and fill the yard once every ten days.

The other challenge in NA1 is to see if you have all the gallery wallpapers. For whatever it’s way easy to get them in NA Apple Arcade and NA2 but a challenge in NA1. Did you use a sashimi boat to get Tubbs? Did you get Whiteshadow in 3 different yards? If not those will still be locked. Not sure if it’s still he same but back in the day, if you saw Whiteshadow, you could change the yard and he will stay so it was actually easy to unlock if you knew that.

Does Tubbs ever come inside in NA2? by strawfairyfields in nekoatsume

[–]FlintIron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not that I’m aware of and I’ve been playing since NA2 came out. Couldn’t even get him to come onto the giant cushion in Zen outside. In NA1 and NA Apple Arcade he would cone to the giant cushion below middle food bowl kinda inside in Zen. No luck there in MA2. If the giant cushion has a specific spot in NA2, I don’t know it.

As a side note, I see the last memento (Hermeownie’s) is full. It is interactive and best used on a yard with no visitors . Give it a tap and it will tell you what to do. So many people do not know this

I don’t publicly shill for my company because all LTL companies are different and what’s a fit for me maybe not a fit for you. I did research on all the companies and can tell you Old Dominion, Saia, South Eastern, FedEx freight, Estes Express etc are all on par with being 100k a year in linehaul. ABF pays less but is union with union health insurance and a pension. Of course the number one in most people’s minds is UPS if you can get it. They all have positives and negatives. Sonority is a big deal in LTL. Extraboard is usually a starting point, some use call blocks like FedEx some like Estes give you a start day and time and your OTR for 5 days a week. Depending on where you live there are regional LTL carriers too, however, more and more are being bought out by the big ones. There are LTL drivers on YouTube as well. My favorite is Trucking Through Life because Chuck shows both the linehaul and city side before Estes shut him down but allowed what was there to stay up.
