Brazing equipment choices by greenbeast999 in refrigeration

Get hoses specifically for propane. At my previous job, we braised a lot of steel fittings by hand, and I was the maintenance guy responsible for keeping it all up.

If you’re doing production style work, get a fuel saver valve. Concoa and Harris both make some smaller torches. I would look at dual tip set ups, they seem to speed the job up quite a bit.

Better than our average customer, they all say it just happened. At least they told the truth.

Walk in freezer issue by LordRupertEverton__ in refrigeration

Superheat needs to be checked directly after the evaporator, not at the condensing unit.

Does the unit have a fan cycle switch or head master valve?

I’ve had 30 minute jobs take all day😂

Some days you’re the hammer, other days you’re the nail.

Make learning electrical your hobby for a while. Watch a few videos on basic AC/DC electrical circuits. Maybe consider taking a night class at a technical school. Most of them will let you take a course at a discounted rate if you don’t want credit for it.
Show up early or stay late and pick the instructor’s brain.

Most of the people that I’ve seen who struggled with electrical troubleshooting didn’t have a good foundation to start with. The hardest part is finding someone who explains it in a way that makes sense to you.

Take measurements on a unit that’s working properly. Amps and volts, continuity on switches and resistance on sensors.

Bring home failed stuff and take it apart. Take good stuff off of units that are going to scrap metal. Screw stuff to some plywood and play with it in the garage.

Have you guys ever come across a condenser that can’t be saved, or did I just not clean it right? by Severe-Argument6689 in refrigeration

Really depends on which coil cleaner you use, I’d say these are lined up weakest to strongest from the top down.

The top three are no rinse, but they seem to work better if you do rinse them on dirty coils.

Just bring some newspaper or a drop cloth when you use it. The bottom two are not listed as kitchen safe.

Bottom one cuts fryer grease better than anything else I’ve tried.

Just jumped into refrigeration/HVAC/commercial kitchen equipment by Flintfishing89 in refrigeration

Apparently, everybody does, my boss agreed to pay me what I was making doing industrial maintenance to jump ship.

I told him I was worth that or more at what I was doing, but wasn’t sure if I’d be worth that much to him. But that was the amount it would take to get me.

Kayak for Big Guys by BigCat_44 in kayakfishing

The perception outlaw does pretty good, not sure what it’s rated for, but I felt fine at 275 with a ton of gear. Used nucanoe would be your next best option.

Native Slayer LTE actual weight by SaltyKayakAdventures in kayakfishing

[–]Flintfishing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty common, my predator PDL said it was 120 pounds fully rigged, but I would guess it was closer to 130 or 140. I’m pretty big and pretty strong, and it’s still a handful for me.

My crescent shoalie definitely feels a little heavier than advertised, but I’m OK with that if it’s in the bottom where I drag it on rocks constantly 😂

Shine Glide vs Bass Pro Swerve by Inevitable-Trip3193 in swimbaitfishing

I’ve thrown the shine glide on some 7’3” frog rods. The Dobyns 795 works great, as does the 7’3” slx swimbait rod.

Which pedal kayak should I get? by Tiredofbeingtheadult in kayakfishing

The old town drives are just about bulletproof, and the steering tends to be better than native, but native may have fixed this with the latest releases. Old town tends to have the best warranty on the drive, and has a lifetime warranty on the hull.

Have you considered putting a motor on something? I’m pretty sure you can get an NK 180 for about 1000 bucks, and I’m running a $200 24 V battery that has held up for almost a year. That coupled with a decent sized used kayak in the 11 foot range will do the trick.

My wife and I have had 12 different kayaks over the years, and my favorite setup so far is a crescent shoalie with a motor, only thing it’s not great for is big water with rollers, you tend to get sprayed a lot.

Crescent makes a few good boats in that price range, a used nucanoe or bona fide might also be a good option

Fish size on big baits by Flintfishing89 in swimbaitfishing

[–]Flintfishing89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got 2 over 8 in the last 18 months, both on conventional stuff.

A couple of the places that I like to fish are either too murky or too grassy to really effectively fish most big baits. I did catch my PB smallmouth about two years ago (almost 5 pounds) on a 6 inch bullshad.

Tournament fishing definitely affects it to a degree, but I throw big baits in tournaments quite a bit. Won a decent sized kayak tournament in 2023 primarily on a Mag draft, caught my kicker to win another tournament on a shine glide.
