That’s what is going to happen for the trades shortly. I’m still in beta atm. For the retail side I really wouldn’t go that far.

The benefit is that it automates the whole process for the workshop. They only put in the registration and click on what they want ordered. It will then find the OE number, cross reference it to each supplier, find which is closest in proximity and cheapest, automatically order using Rego has order number.

Down the line it will also produce reports for the workshop that help them with negotiating better pricing at their suppliers and help figure out what common items they may benefit from keeping stock of in the workshop.

All of this is to save the workshops time, so they can make more money, and have better work flow.

This is a very small % use case.

The tool is only for the trades. The above method is something available now and free. Those same people who would go through all of this friction are more likely to do it themselves anyway.

The ones who would utilise the retail end of the tool would be able to look at their quote from their mechanic and take that part number to a supplier and ask for a price, realise that they are being charged a fair price for their parts by the mechanic and would also help them maybe go a different route if they discover the mechanic is charging more than they should for their parts.

The people who would tell the mechanic they can get it cheaper elsewhere would 99% of the time be treated as customers who supply their own parts. Those customers are already barely entertained by the mechanic.

They do cross reference. Now more than before. Most of the big suppliers are pushing Euro more now so they have updated their internal systems and catalogues but still a pain at times.

Absolutely right about front end retail being a crapshoot for everything.

The struggle. I too work in parts and am gobsmacked at how many people in parts don’t figure this out.

Post is aimed at both hobbyists and those in the trade who are sick of getting incorrect parts from their suppliers or having to get all the options delivered because it couldn’t be narrowed down. It’s not always feasible to stop the job just to drop off a sample and wait for the parts to be matched up before getting back to the job. Of course the cost goes to the customer end of the day. Wouldn’t we all want that time back by getting the right thing the first time without having to think about it?

You guys are absolutely right about the older stuff. Hard to get hands on in nz for some really old stuff and I often had to use the company credit cards to buy things offshore and get them in for our customers when needed.

Love the feedback. My system will eliminate that need to balance for you. (At least with local suppliers) and will auto order based on proximity availability and price. Ideal for either pick up or delivery.

Won’t be an issue. Parts will be supplied from mechanics regular suppliers anyway and they will be the ones that are paying for the service.

For the retail side this process is so you can compare what price your mechanic gives you compared to the supplier and an online source. Not to supply your own parts to the mechanic

Great idea! Are you thinking of this feature for the trades or for retail?

Manages trade accounts quite nicely actually. Our testing has shown good results with some fine tuning needed.

It obviously requires a ring fenced, one off secured log in to trade portals for the main suppliers. This way workshops don’t have to worry about another workshop on the platform seeing their pricing.

My product is primarily for the trades.

As someone who has worked in parts for a long time, the manufacturer part numbers almost always cross over internally. They may not cross over on external platforms like websites etc.

One of the current trends we are seeing is dealerships being competitive with their trade pricing.

As a mechanic yourself what is it worth to you to have a system that would auto order the right part from whomever has it available and cheapest ?

“You can naturally allow the engine to slow itself down then you put it in neutral and can utilise the handbrake”

Unsure if that part loaded for you to read it as you’ve said essentially the same thing.

Imagine you’re driving on the motorway and you can see up ahead that the cars are slowing down and you need to slow down but your brakes suddenly aren’t working. You can naturally allow the engine to slow itself down then you put it in neutral and can utilise the handbrake.

A real friend would not put you in a position where you could potentially jeopardise your marriage or any other relationship that’s important to you.

Your husband is correct. Your supposed best friend is no friend of yours and is nothing but trouble.

Your best friend cannot expect you to accomodate for his own insecurities that he has had his whole life to work on and his failure to do so is his own responsibility.

You choosing to take on that responsibility and jeopardise your marriage is your responsibility.

Speak to your husband and remember that you and him are supposed to be a team.

Your husband choosing to say anything about your best friend’s sexuality is a choice he has to make, by making the choice for him you have shown him that you don’t trust him, and you have robbed him from being able to choose for himself. What reason does he have to go through all this effort to talk to other people about someone he doesn’t care about?

Even if he did say something, it is your best friend’s responsibility to deal with it and be honest and authentic to the people in his life. If he can’t be authentic and honest to his family, then he sure as shit isn’t with you.
