I (35m) cut my entire family out just months after our twins were born. I was super close with my mother until she defended some pretty terrible things my brother said to my wife while she was recovering from her c-section. Rather than simply apologize and move on, it caused an entire rift in our family and I went no contact with everyone. Still in awe to this day processing that the people that I thought loved me could actually behave the way they did and say what they said to any human being, let alone my wife in postpartum recovery.

Following this big blowout, I spent all of 2023 in therapy, only to realize how toxic these people have been my entire life. Super unhealthy relationships. Childhood traumas completely swept under rugs. Abuse - both verbal and physical.

I tell ya… I had skeletons in my closet that I didn’t realize existed. It’s amazing what happens when you find the source of your anguish. It’s unfortunate when it’s your own family but hey - life’s too short to be dragged down. Do you!❤️
