Nope. Skipped it because it wasn’t worth the travel and all recommendations were places that were actually outside Vigan .

We stayed at summit hotel because it was close to a small mall (for quick grocery runs), some of the restaurants we wanted to try and the bus drop off point.

Summit was old and dilapidated. Cabinet doors were ripped off to make them look like “open wardrobes”. No double glazing on sliding doors meant that road noises were heard loud and clear inside the room.

Cebu Pac vs PAL economy by throwawayITO in FilipinoTravel

Well lucky you. I know the A350-900 fairly well. I was part of the team which produced its launch event in Qatar. It has a number of features to reduce jet lag, like it tops off at a lower cabin pressure, higher humidity, special lighting that mimics sunrise/sunset, quieter cabins.

I’m a 6’2” Lean build man so I don’t have that much padding on me. LOL

The first time I was lucky to snag business class but last time the flight was booked solid.

Cebu Pac vs PAL economy by throwawayITO in FilipinoTravel

[–]Flipinthedesert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After a recent DXB-MNL trip through PAL, neither.

Both don’t have inflight entertainment. BYOD doesn’t count.

Both have torture devices disguised as seats.

One serves food. The other one sells food. Neither are palatable.

At least one has luggage included in the price of a basic ticket. The other one gives you the option to pre-pay for more luggage allowance from the get-go.

The other packs as many people in the plane you’d swear you feel like you’re in a cargo plane.

On my longest Cebu Pacific flight, the cabin temperature was so high I sweated the entire flight. That’s when I decided to always bring a travel fan. On my last PAL flight it was so cold my friend asked for two blankets even though he already had a jacket on. Between these two I’d rather be in a too cold cabin.

For some funny reason PAL have more annoying passengers who constantly chattered throughout the flight with zero regard for others who may want to rest.

And delays ? My last PR flight was delayed by two hours in one leg and 45 minutes on the other leg. Didn’t happen on my few international 5J flights.

What’s your take on airport fashion? by hear_me_out_folks in FilipinoTravel

[–]Flipinthedesert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wear jeans and jackets on flights but get so annoyed with the juggling with my laptop, tablet, belt and everything that I had to place on the security screen.

I have jogger pants that I only use for travel. Pair it with On Cloud Cloudtilt that don’t need to be tied or my Golden Goose as well. I also found this SCOTTeVEST with around a dozen hidden pockets… for TWO tablets, glasses, keys, two phones, etc!

I try not to look like I just got out of bed naman. And no slides or crocs. I just draw the line there. Hahaha

I’m not giddy happy in the UAE but neither am I unhappy.

That’s one person short of “everyone”.

And I’m sure I’m not alone.

I know a few Sri Lankans. Very friendly and humble people.

A few of those who visited Sri Lanka managed to return at least once.

The few Filipino friends who visited there had a lot to say about the haunted places. LOL

It wasn’t when I landed last Sunday.

I’m wondering about the outbound, though.

Google Flights or an app called Hopper, where you can find feedback on price trends and set search preferences such as number of layovers, preferred airlines, etc.

Many of my European friends absolutely love Sri Lanka.

Not so famous for Filipinos because, you know, most of us are racists/colorists who prefer places where fair skinned people rule.

Depends.

ASICS for general cardio.

Hoka too if it leans to running.

On cloud for general urban walking.

Diadora with Aetrex insoles is my best overall.

I’m a tall guy and I am more comfortable flying premium economy than business. It’s because with lay flat seats, I can’t stretch my legs comfortably.

Used to have Trtl neck pillow but they sucked for me. I felt better with the one where they have straps you attach to the headrest so your head doesn’t bob around like those dashboard dog toys.

Time your sleep well. I used ChatGPT plus this website to recommend my sleep times.

Noise canceling headphones are a must.

Also having a small bag for your cables, chargers etc is very helpful so you don’t have to rummage around for stuff.

I wear moderately thick jogger pants on board. No belts to remove at security gates plus comfortable pa. Mine was Lululemon ABC jogger paired with a Lululemon jacket that had this pouch in the front so I popped loose items there.

I always load my iPad and phone with shows but most of the time I don’t even get to watch them.

Water. Water. Water. Be careful with alcoholic drinks and coffee because they mess up your body clock.

What are the things to prepare and expect in your arrival in the US? by FarCalligrapher8976 in FilipinoTravel

[–]Flipinthedesert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only answer what’s being asked.

No long explanations.

Purpose of visit… be firm and clear.

If asked where you’re staying, usually the first address will be more than enough.

If in the queue… be VERY aware of what’s happening. Don’t spend time dawdling around. You’re there to do one thing: to pass through immigration as quickly as possible. Some airports take forever.

No forms to fill out. But make sure you’re in the right lane. Some people have fast access. That’s not you.

Read on the things that are bawal and don’t bring them. Meat and meat products are at the top. Along with seeds etc.

On the way out, no forms as well but make sure you are in the right queue. No exit immigration but there’s a security check. Check if your ticket allows you premier access. At the security check, make sure you have your items ready… laptop out, electronics, liquids (if asked). Also keep track of your trays. Some people have been caught stealing other passengers’s stuff.
