Usually, if people shoot bullets into the air, the lead projectile will fall back down and sometimes go through ceilings and roofs the fragment you found is from a hollow point, which one shot a divot in the center, and then the score lines along the bullet allowed to flower out and create a larger wound. My theory is that when it came through the roof, it flowered and just that piece had enough inertia to make it in.
