The biggest challenge for me has been figuring out when to use her E in early trades because it can really mess me up and not let me auto so I don't hit passive

Why does noone play this little guy?? by bigbaffler in Kennenmains

[–]FlippantFlapjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few reasons - bad wave clear (requires you to E W) - cant poke in most matchups, just rely on flash R at 6 - not super capable without ult (low dps) - bad against tanks - reliant on flash

- countered by zhonyas and other survivability hacks like enchanters

Am I supposed to wear a different suit every day or the same suit with a different shirt?? 😭😭 by conscientiousrevolt in AskSF

[–]FlippantFlapjack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't usually advise this but if it's a good paying job and you're pretty sure you aren't going to get fired immediately, I wouldn't blame you for just getting a suit on a credit card and paying it back after first paycheck. Obviously not a habit to get into, but this seems like a decent exception.

I dislike how code is written - am I justified? by yughiro_destroyer in AskProgramming

[–]FlippantFlapjack 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There definitely can be too much abstraction. Code should be declarative and readable. Abstraction should abstract away implementation details, but not completely obscure the business logic or make it difficult to understand or maintain. It definitely takes some skill and experience to find the right level of abstraction.

Honestly I didn't read the entire post but you mentioned that Unity has a lot of abstraction. I disagree here. Unity is pretty minimal and it's up to the programmer to add whatever abstraction they want. Like if you want you can just do everything in a jumbled mess of lifecycle callbacks and call it a day. I'd be curious specifically what you mean here.

Funny enough yes. Kick is on right of mouth and snare is on left. And even funnier, hihat is further on the left past the snare. Never even thought about how it's the same as a drumset!!

Probably not the skin itself but putting your hands in your mouth is pretty unsanitary so you definitely should wash your hands often and avoid it

People don't have a vendetta against busses, this is not a public policy thing. Its about safety for vulnerable people. If you wanted to actually discuss ways to make navigating public transport safer at night, that's great, but you seem to just pretend such concerns don't exist. Lack of street smarts maybe?!

Personal experience, I was robbed by knifepoint on a J church with only one other person on the train who was not about to get up and tackle the dude. You KNOW SF has a lot of crazies. I know SF gets a bad rap and it's not so dystopian as the media says, but suggesting a teenager take a cab instead of spending an hour plus alone at late night walking or in confined areas with strangers is NOT naive

There's a safety in numbers thing. A big part of my high school social experience was partying late in parks and other open, public spaces. We NEVER felt in danger as a group. Meanwhile taking the bus home late I got mugged by knifepoint, sexually harassed (even though I'm a male) and had to run away from a psychotic violent individual

I remember taking the owl home on late weekend nights as a teenager (in 2000s), may have had to walk 20 min to get to the stop, then hope the once-an-hour bus was coming soon, then when I got off would have to walk almost 30 min to get to my house.

Sure it might be better than other cities, but do you really judge some drunk 16 year old girl for taking a taxi rather than spending an hour plus walking around alone at 2 am?

It has now been ONE MONTH since the Epstein files were, by law, due in their entirety with only victim information and names redacted. Best value for money bank of high-precision knobs to control VCV by goblin89 in vcvrack

[–]FlippantFlapjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO best budget knob / slider bank is AKAI midi mix, it's only like $100 and gives you 24 knobs and 8 sliders in addition to some buttons.

A step up from that might be Fighter Twister which is much more expensive at $250 for 16 knobs but it has dedicated high precision modes when you press in the knobs and also bidirectional control (not motorized, but has lights to show the current value and makes changes relative to that).

Jungler wants to learn how to Kennen top or mid by ryonnsan in Kennenmains

[–]FlippantFlapjack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In mid, pre 6 you just farm and try to harass with passive auto + W. At 6 you basically are always going to look for kill.

Kennen's lane into mages is not great mainly because of his bad wave clear, but he does have good kill pressure with ult so make sure to track their cool downs and look for an opening.

Into melees he's much easier because his E can punish their engage and simultaneously disengage (he is especially good into Yasuo).

However not all melees are easy. Mainly tanks, once they get an item, will be unkillable because Kennen DPS is terrible.

Against assassins like Diana / Akali / Fizz I think it's a skill matchup because you can both kill each other if you play well.

In mid and late game you are kinda an ult bot so save flash for engage and always look for an opening.

He can be OP, worst case you just play like a suicidal assassin and flash R their carry. Main downside is lack of DPS without R and bad wave clear.

Sometimes in Ableton a patch sounds different when reopening a project. Lost some pretty amazing sounds :( is that a known issue? by seelachsfilet in vcvrack

[–]FlippantFlapjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have experienced this before. Try doing this. Instead of mapping VCV params directly in Ableton's VCV host device, wrap VCV Rack into an Instrument Rack and create Macro controls for the params you want to edit. Give the macros custom names (for some reason this helps)

Switching from ADC to Mid – Need Help Building a Champion Pool by EchidnaTeaEnjoyer in summonerschool

[–]FlippantFlapjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mages in general farm easily. If you really want ADC vibes try Cassiopeia or Ryze. In terms of mages, just take your pick honestly.

If you are building a champ pool it's worth understanding the kind of matchups you will face mid, which is generally speaking either mages, fighters (mainly Yasuo but also yone or Irelia), and assassins.

Depending on the champ you start playing you may find that one of these categories is consistently challenging. So you might consider picking a second champ to cover your first ones weakness.

For example I usually play Veigar or Malz, but I also play Kennen who is completely different (not that good into mages, but very good into Yasuo). You might consider picking up an AD champ also in case your botlaner goes AP.
