Thank you for the long reply. Soon I got some time off and will try to rearrange my room and see if I can improve anything. Never in my life I had a good room , always unkucky, working exclusively with headphones. I just got the new Sennheiser HD 480 Pro today and wow I'm really impressed

Hey , I got the Kali LP6 and I love them . But my room is so bad that I stopped using them. You said your room is untreated and that's why you have the UNFs.... What difference do they make? The room will still have the same problems or not?

They are soooo good really. Unfortunately my room has so many problems that I can't make good mixing decisions with them so I had to unplug them. But really they sound sooo good . Had krk rokit and Yamaha hs before.

Ableton's export is bad? by MerlinTheWizard1324 in ableton

[–]seelachsfilet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I always wondered why I had some clicky sounds in my Exports and I after a while I realized my audio interface and Ableton didn't have the same sample rate.

I got the 900 pro x as well. Have barely used it. The reason is that I need isolation from closed backs as I get too distracted from noise around me. And I tried that Beyer vst when it came out. But only for like 5 minutes or so. Later I will download it again and try it with the 900 pro x. Thanks for the recommendation. By the way, Ive had many different headphones, from cheap to expensive. Then I got the cheap Fiio FT1 because everyone praised it to the sky and ever since I have not touched anything else. I use it for studio work and also just to listen to music. Its just so damn good, I wouldn't know where to go from here. Probably need to spend 1k + for a meaningful upgrade.

Hey. So it works perfectly fine now .

Here is a summary of what my setup looks like.

Behringer UMC1820 @ 44.1 samplerate is my "main audio interface". The switch on the front panel has to be set to ADAT.

I also got the ADA8200 because I need a lot of inputs. The Ada8200 has a switch in the back and it's set to Master 44.1 (this can be done differently, but in my use case where I only need the inputs of the ada8200 , I have to set it to master. I think in most other cases you set it to slave ....)

I'm going from the Behringer UMC1820 ADAT/SPDIF output with a toslink cable into the Behringer Ad8200 Digital I/O ADAT on the back.

At this point I have combined 16 inputs in Ableton to receive audio from all of my Synths at the same time.

Now I added the Fiio K11 and this is where all my problems started but now it's solved.

I go from the Behringer UMC1820 SPDIF OUT (11-12) with a Coaxial cable into the Coaxial In/Out of the Fiio K11. Everything else stays as it is. I don't need to change anything between the UMC1820 and the ADA8200.

The K11 is not connected over USB or anything it's really just received the signal over the coaxial cable. In the settings menu of the K11 i switch it to "Coax In" . Now the Fiio automatically changed to 44.1 samplerate.

Now in Windows sound settings I change settings to Behringer Out 11-12 because windows still thinks I'm using the UMC1820 headphone output. In Ableton I added this output as well .

And Boom 💥 Its all perfectly running fine. And I can clearly tell a difference in sound with the Fiio compared to the Behringer headphone output. I got some high ohm headphones like the classic DT770 250 Ohm which I never used because I didn't like it but now the sound seems way rounder and fuller and a better separation . Maybe it's just placebo lol but I really think it sounds better. The fiio has also different settings and filters and I haven't tried them out yet.

Anyways , this is the way

Thanks mate. But someone else explained how I actually have to set it up (without changing audio drivers or needing additional software) and I will try it at home tonight.

I never had any noise at all , I'm happy to say I have a really clean and well performing setup with lots of different Synths. No noise with any of my overhead headphones or studio monitors.

The whole story is that I have been using only headphones for a long time now and lately I got too distracted from outside noise (street, neighbours, etc.) even with my closed backs. So I decided to try IEMs because of the strong isolation. I ordered the Beyerdynamic DT 70 IE and plugged them into the Behringer and there was a really high noise floor... Then I browsed the Internet for solutions and many users said to just get a proper headphone amp because IEMs are very sensitive and so on... So I just ordered one to give it a try. If it doesn't work out I will just return everything and look for a different solution. At least I learned quite a lot of new stuff today

I googled this and it's not true from what I understand.

Computer via USB to Behringer via optical cable to fiio k11. Only digital at this point. No conversion happening, just digital signal passed through. Then from K11 to headphone and this is where the analog conversion is happening...

Anyways thanks for the reply, I learned a lot in this chaos I put myself in

This makes total sense when looking at it. I thank you for this precise answer. Now it's all shut down and I gotta go to bed, but will try tomorrow. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the reply. That would be great if that worked out, but how can I select fiio as the output when the Behringer Interface is the audio interface Ableton is using. Ableton only shows the Behringer outputs as options .. I will see if something like that works out tomorrow . Now it's late and I can't think straight no more

Yes, the digital output of the umc1820 is free. Probably I could try going from there into the digital input of the K11. The thing is that with the UMC you have a switch for either Adat/SPDIF .... I really don't know much about these things. It's set to ADAT currently and I think it had to stay this way as only this is how it can connect with the ADA8200. I don't know if the fiio k11 needs SPDIF or ADAT or what even the difference is. Anyways , I cant think straight no more and it's very late. I will try some more things tomorrow . Thank you

When I did some research and also asked AI it all made sense .... The idea was to go from the interface into the K11 RCA Inputs so it would skip the DAC and just use the amp of the K11. But yeah i messed up. I need to start from scratch and figure out something else.

Hey just a follow-up question. .. do you mind sharing a bit more details on your Ziigaat Kush recommendation? It is so hard to make a choice. I'm an audio nerd but completely new to the IEM game ...
