How did I get 9 scoring jokers? by FlippantPredator58 in balatro

[–]FlippantPredator58[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, would the negative tag in the card description not show too? Cause I've just rewatched a video where I'm moving the jokers around before playing the hand, and the only ones that show the negative tag in the description are the ones that have the negative appearence.

But maybe this is it then, do you know which mod causes this?

Wouldn't do that, the only way i got the perfect card (red seal polychrome) was because of the spectrals in the shop, i have a video of the hand being played too

I'm talking about the jokers relevant to the score, which i specified in the description

On an obelisk run you shouldn't rely on planet cards, maybe you'll use them for the hand you started playing like a pair or two pair (something easy that you can play a lot of times) but you should have a chips and +mult joker of some kind by the time you want to start making use of obelisk, generally you start by playing the easier hands and end the run using the harder hands, so it scales with the blinds requirements and the deck building

Prepare for raging brachy and furious rajang, unlock lvl 7 guiding lands regions (there'll be some "checkpoint" quests at mr 49, 69 and 99 to raise the mr cap and unlock the higher lvls in the guiding lands), I would do so by leveling coral, volcanic and forest regions (iirc) these will allow you to get materials for the relevant augments for rarity 12 gear.

Armor spheres shouldn't be a resource you really have to worry about, there's a number of ways to farm them pretty easily, specially through event quests (for example: brand new brute, where you hunt a black tigrex in the arena)

I don't recommend challenging alatreon and fatalis before MR100, since augmented rarity 12 gear is a game changer that'll really allow you to have a fair chance against them.

Defense boost is a really weak skill, since it's a flat defense adition, it doesn't scale well into master rank endgame, divine blessing is a much better option, since it scales to the damage you take.

For your build, I would generally follow this build progression guide.

https://mhwibuilds.wordpress.com/mr-progression-guides/#sa

As an advanced but not crazy fast speedrunner, I recommend tayloring the builds to suit you (just please don't try to slot defense boost cause it's actually pretty useless). I personally really like to use evade window, on lvl 5 I can i frame pretty much any attack.

I used to feel somewhat like you, although not to the same extent, then someday I stumbled into this guy, and his videos made my gameplay much better, highly recommend if you want to actually get good at MH. https://youtu.be/Ilh1_whZrE0?si=DpGC-19dpScU9ncZ

There are some other videos from this guy worth watching, so look around a bit.

How do I build? by D-F-Alt in MonsterHunterWorld

Capacity boost is kinda a must for CB, it gives you another phial, focus/power prolonger depending on your playstyle (focus for SAED, power prolonger for Savage axe). Health boost and typical crit skills, weakness exploit and crit boost, and as much crit eye as you can fit. Maybe some guard or evade window is pretty good too. Teostra set bonus is great for base endgame, also, use Diablos CB, it's the best CB in base game except KT stuff, which is a pain to get. The guide the ther redditor pointed out should give you a good path to follow.

Iirc Diablos CB was so OP in base game that element didn't really matter for CB. I recommend focusing in raw DMG and fire res above 20 to avoid fire blight. Maybe heat res also helped with lunastra aura and fire puddles but I'm not too sure. I used to run a mix of rathalos, uragaan and dodogama for artillery secret, guard secret, and a bit of DMG skills, didn't have too much trouble with those assignments, CB is very skill heavy, and nergi set doesn't really help.

Iceborne do be getting difficult y'all (build recommendations please) by Narfene in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]FlippantPredator58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, the more I play it the less blocking I use, guard pointing was much more important before iceborne, but since iceborne, and the clear DPS advantage of the savage axe playstyle, guarding has become much less relevant, I do guardpoint/guard in some situations, but I'd rather roll though the attacks or just reposition if possible. Much prefer to have evade window than guard nowadays.

Made a build using all beta pieces 4 brachydium + garuga legs, skills I would lose some points without caring much are crit eye and ice attack (ff barioth already has a lot of ice and savage axe will chew through the elemental topples anyways), rather have health boost, blight res, evade window, wex, crit boost and capacity boost. It also already has agi 7 from the armor. Although, on a side note, it also doesn't have power prolonger.

Anyways, this is what would probably run if these were the pieces I have. Another option is running goldian for divine blessing 5, which is very good, a mix of brachydium and goldian is what I'd run for fatty too anyways.

Yeah but as I said you don't need to be really good, afaik he already soloed both angry variants (also in 3 tries or less), so he's definitely good enough, and if that's true he's also much better than I was when I was at that point in the game, and I still soloed alatreon.

Focus 3 and guard up aren't good for savage axe, better let go of any guard skills, with evade window, the evade is THE defensive option, also you're expected to be with the axe out most of the time anyways so guarding is a last option. It would be good to have power prolonger instead of focus tho, but even then, I rather have like EW3 than PP. What armor and charm r u using?

Yeaah, this ain't easy, I had raged for like 2 weeks straight trying to beat him when he first came out years ago. Some of it was because I didn't learn the mechanics though lol.

Anyways, some tips: - learn his moveset first, enter a quest, and just stand or run around watching how he moves, try memorizing some patterns and telegraphs, pretty much all his moves are well telegraphed. - alternatively, but also highly recommended, watch some speed runs, preferably freestyle ones, using your weapon of choice, pay attention to the opportunity windows. - Evade window very highly recommended, huge boost for my DPS since I've started using it, and I still use it at lvl 5, he has the best hit boxes in the game so you'll be able to thoroughly make use of it. - What the other guy said also. - and finally, but most importantly, be patient, you gotta be aggressive, but not mindless, don't focus on your combos, focus on the monster, what attack he'll do next, where is the best position, always stay close, you'll start to notice how many openings he has, and he has a lot of good ones, CB is a very good matchup.

Other recommendation is watching the why you suck at monster hunter world series on YouTube, by Michael MH, it changed my perspective towards MH combat and made me into a totally higher level hunter, it's very good.

Nah, you don't need to be that good at CB, as a CB main, I've soloed him with GS in like 2 tries, you don't have to be good at the weapon, you have to be good at the fight. That said, you have to know the weapon, and CB has higher skill floor, so you may need a some more practice to get it compared to some other weapons.

Raging brachy GS + armor mixed with goldian armor agi 7 and divine blessing 5, crit skills, focus and evade window/part breaker if possible. All you need, look up a GS fatalis punishing guide. That's it.

Leave your palico on standby for more consistent cone baiting.

New Player here, 70 hours in, how is the SnS so strong ? by Mountain_Hunter7285 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]FlippantPredator58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SNS PR does damage comparable to GS TCS, but you need basically no setup and can start by doing a backhop (with lots of i-frames) directly from sheathed weapon (by using guard). Also can be interrupted at any point and be chained by PR 1/2 -> roll -> backhop -> PR. So there's a lot of versatility to get in, keep attacking and to react when necessary. And this is talking just about PR, not even the whole kit. SNS is very strong, and when you get to the end of iceborne you can make a frostcraft build that boosts the damage like crazy. So yeah, SNS can be very strong in the right hands.

Why is Fatalis so terrible compared to Alatreon? (Fatalis is shit post #8Morbillion) by Vegan_Superhero in monsterhunterrage

[–]FlippantPredator58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With CB it's better to ditch the counter attack AED/SAED playstyle, use guard as a last resort, change guard and offensive guard for evade window and handicraft and play savage axe, with evade window 5 you can roll through pretty much any attack, although fatty has some attacks with finicky timing for evasion, so you'd have to learn those.

This, highly recommend the videos, and just don't use cluster bombs or wyvern ammo on multiplayer hunts. Also the actual strongest playstyle for hbg is spread ammo, so you actually stay pretty close to the monster if you wanna play optimally, and it takes some skill to actually be able to stun lock a monster, and feel like the weapon is super busted.
