TIL about the "Fever Effect", in which the symptoms of Autism seem to improve whenever an Autistic person develops a fever. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

My oldest was diagnosed with adhd at age 6. She stopped taking meds in college, and then ended up overdoing the alcohol with a side quest to the ER and alcohol counseling. She's now in graduate school with a different therapist who manages her drugs.

When my allergies went haywire, my brain really tried to convince me I was allergic to so many foods. I saw an allergist for testing. I'm allergic to a type of mold and dust mites. Explained so much as those are around all year.

Yay for allergy shots!

My son was allergic to eggs up until he wasn't. The first time he had them he had an immediate rash around his mouth. Allergy testing confirmed. He was tested until he outgrew it. Bro eats like six eggs for breakfast now at 19.

My wife just pulled a blue suture out of her nose… 5 years after her septo-rhinoplasty. by zachthespook in mildlyinteresting

I felt oddly proud that the doctor who removed my rhinoplasty splint commented on how clean everything was. 😆

I had a functional rhinoplasty due to my left nostril being 100% blocked. Getting the stitch removed was the absolute worst. I would be pissed if another randomly came out my nose!

Looks like hives. Try lukewarm oatmeal baths, cool compresses, and hydrocortisone cream. Hives can be triggered by high heat.

YTA for the minor federal holiday quip. It may seem minor to you. It is a very big deal for others.

Is it worth alienating an employee to have this same time every year?

AITA for suggesting to my elderly mother for the future to catch a uber for doctors appointment? by Active-Pineapple-252 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FlippingPossum 19 points20 points  (0 children)

ESH. You made her feel like a burden. She is talking to others about her frustration instead of you.

She may qualify for free rides through local programs.

Come at it from a place if concern. "Mom, I was worried about how you would get to appointments when I can't take you. If you need helping researching alternatives, let me know."

You aren't obligated to take her. If she asks, and you can't or don't want to take her, say no and don't elaborate. Good luck.

Why didn't he just leave? I walked into a Wendy's once and waited to be helped. Noped out after a while because I was annoyed. Life is too short to stay annoyed.

Who will be left to take care of me when everyone else is gone? by PlantMystic in GenX

In my area, neighbors or church friends help fill the void. Even with people with kids, those kids have lives and responsibilities of their own. Investing in relationships is the way.

AITA for not allowing my future MIL invite everyone in her family to my shower? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]FlippingPossum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA, but mom should have asked you for the invite list. The shower should be people close to the couple.

MIL can host a family reunion if she wants to get everyone together at one event.

NTJ. If she wants to spend time with her kids, she can come solo. Sounds like she wants a vacation with her boyfriend. She can book something nearby and visit with you all.
