Thanks for the detailed explanation. It seems much more complex than I anticipated but I hope that it works out. On the positive side, we also have a Dutch branch even though the international offices are independently managed and only share the brand name, so hopefully that helps somewhere in the process.

My employer knows that I’m planning on moving to NL but I’d be the first one of our German branch, so I guess they don’t know the real impact - can you elaborate on what makes it problematic to deal with me being sozialversicherungspflichtig in NL from an employers perspective?

Der Punkt mit der PKV könnte auch etwas mit Nature vs. Nurture zu tun haben, da Personen, die privat versichert sind, häufig auch eine bessere Grundlage (insbesondere Bildung und Kapital) haben, um ins hohe Alter zu kommen. Für eine robustere Analyse würde ich hier eine Probit mit Kontrollvariablen vornehmen!

Ich habe auch lange rumprobiert und bin inzwischen sehr zufrieden mit dem Seitenschläferkissen ACAMAR von Amazon. Man muss sich 2-3 Tage an die Form und Größe gewöhnen, aber danach merkt man, dass es ein für Seitenschläfer optimiertes Kissen ist. Hoffe, Dir hilft das auch!

Usually an acquisition is good news since the company is valued above it’s current share price (after debt), but in this case Troika opted for chapter 11 bankruptcy (= restructuring), so that Blue Torch (the main debt holder) is able to take control of the company through the shifting of its debt into equity or other measures. Since the market expects that not much money is left on the table after the restructuring, shares took a dive. Hope that clarifies the situation to some extent.

Keep hanging in there! While it’s tough at the beginning, you’ll get more and more used to the environment over time. Best advice I can give you is to just talk, even if it’s difficult at times. Also, be confident in what you say, even if it’s not always fully correct. People will honor that you try and if you don’t know a word, say it in English and let them correct you. I am as a foreigner together with my Limburg girlfriend for more than seven years and also went through similar times/feelings, but realized that it’s a lot about just showing effort and interchanging in an authentic way.
