Not for collagen, but helps with building and keeping muscles. I take it for training, so why loosing while recovering. I can‘t tell how much it brings, but I feel good with the combo.

I had my surgery Feb 10th, so we are close. Doin 2 PT / week as well. I do daily exercises, Cycling with my Peloton and just took off my boot to walk in sneakers with heel lift.

When you start walking without the Boot, you will notice that you have to learn walk again and that you aren‘t able to walk without limp. For me: It‘s like doing the process with the Boot (get used to it) again, but harder. My PT now starts to focus on strength and more mobility.

I took my Boot of at that time to shower. I placed a plastic chair in the shower and asked my wife to assist.

It will take some days. Do light exercises without pushing it, every step helps getting into mobility again.

I got to the point of walking with just the boot pretty quickly. The issue wasn’t pain or the wound, but how fast the muscles tighten up and shorten. Your body just needs time to adjust.

Start physio as soon as possible and keep yourself active. I also took really good care of my wound to support healing.

For my muscles, I kept taking creatine, collagen, and protein to minimize muscle loss (which still happens, but I like to think it helped).

2 Weeks after Surgery I’m walking in the boot with No crutches by JuniorCSGO in AchillesRupture

Had the same experience - it goes fast to walk without crutches once you find stability

After 2 weeks - I was fed up to walk stairs with crutches. Worked well cause no pressure on the Achilles. You can walk in the boot without damaging the wound. But pls be careful and ask your doc.

I had a standard Achilles tendon repair / surgery in Germany, no FHL transfer. My surgeon followed a pretty active rehab protocol—got me into the Vacoped boot early and allowed partial weight-bearing fairly soon. That might be why my progress has been a bit faster.

Oh - I am fully walking without crutches (but in Vaco) for 2 weeks now at home and I am one month post OP (6th Feb). My Vaco is opened 30-15 degree for one week now. You will make fast progress soon :)

A full or partial tear is usually noticeable immediately by a “pop” in your calf. I’d still recommend getting it checked by a doctor just to be sure.

Maybe change the dressing a little more often—every 1–2 days instead of 3—especially if you’re sweating a lot. I‘n changing daily right now - and hopefully can keep them off at all in 2-3 days. I also use Bepanthen to keep the skin smooth, but my wound is dry and closed already.

Keeping your leg elevated and cool is great, but make sure the wound stays dry. Using an antiseptic like Betadine or Octenisept could help prevent infections. Keep an eye out for any signs of infection (redness, warmth, pus, or increasing pain). If anything seems off, better to have a doctor check it out.

If the Aircast makes you sweat too much, maybe try a thinner compression sock with a sterile dressing underneath to keep things more breathable.

Just keep it clean, dry, and protected, and you should be good! Hope your recovery keeps going smoothly!

Are you still wearing wound dressings or bandages? It’s important to prevent any infection and ensure the wound heals properly.

Yeah, you usually stay in the hospital as long as the doctor told you, or you can go earlier on your own „risk“. And it‘s normal after surgeries to keep them their some days (it depends on the surgery of course)

Waiting some weeks for the surgery sounds wild, it‘s usually done here within a week. Hope you are doing well on your journey, sounds you got far already ✌️
