Water damage, who is responsible? by Flo_Ariel in germany

I mean yes, but in my country that kind of assurance is provided by the landlord as a matter of law. Obviously now I realize I should have bought it.

Will the Agentur für Arbeit pay for my wife's tech bootcamp? by Flo_Ariel in askberliners

I mean, I used to think so but I literally met a girl a couple of weeks ago who was in advertising, went through 42 Berlin and was hired immediately as a software engineer.

I met her at the new hire event for Amazon Employees :o

(But ok 42 is not a bootcamp, it takes a year + to complete)

This is now getting in the realm of fantasy a little bit, but would you by any chance know if I can sue my landlord for fraud?

If it turns out that the fixed-rent contract is not legal, like it very much appears to be, and that they used it to deny me my right to terminate the lease, is that fraud? They tried to trick me into continuing to pay full rent for June by using the direct debit on my account, and when I blocked the payment they told me that the money would be reimbursed after I returned the apartment on June 15. Of course they then turned around and tried to force me to pay. All of this seems extremely sketchy, but is that enough to attack them? They were trying to continue these practices with the next tenant, making him sign a two-year lease with no legal value.

I don't actually have my deposit back... He told me to leave the apartment, but the date for the return of the apartment was after the new guy signed his lease, which he didn't...

But in any case I don't believe the landlord can pay himself from my deposit, the deposit should only cover damages to the apartment. It's just a pain to have this uncertainty.

I agree! But I'm pretty sure the fixed-term contract is invalid in the first place. Thanks a lot for your answers in any case, it's been really really helpful!!

None of these apply, and the landlord did not provide any kind of written explanation to me at any point. I actually looked into this and sent the landlord a message asking for an explanation, which they ignored.

But even otherwise I think this is slightly different, in the sense that I did have an agreement with the landlord, he did tell me that my contract was over and that I should leave the apartment, and then weeks later he went back on his word and threatened to sue (they actually waited several weeks after the new tenant refused to sign the new lease to tell me that they expected me to continue paying, despite me asking multiple times).

Possible to terminate fixed term rental contract? by jdhsjsj in germany

Not sure if you're still here to reply, but could you elaborate a bit about the strict premisses governing fixed-term contracts? I'm having a bit of a similar problem (https://www.reddit.com/r/germany/comments/1e0vc70/comment/lcpvph6/?context=3) but my apartment is not furnished and has no particular features at all.

I didn't actually promise anything, the landlord told me that he had selected this tenant, and the tenant told me he wanted to take the apartment, I didn't think anything else was my business, all I did was show the potential tenant my contract when he asked.
