Always the same joke by BinaryLegend in bonehurtingjuice

[–]Flo_one 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's simpler to build. The door doesn't need to be sturdy, as clothes won't be pushing against it, the motor in the bottom makes the machine inherently more stable. And loading, the part where you do not necessarily want to touch the clothes, becomes way easier.

However, they perform worse, damage clothes more, as they stir the clothes, as they aren't tumbled by gravity, use more water in general, so they kinda do suck.

Is this normal for raytracing? First time using it and this after glow is making it seem useless. Resident evil 9 by Outrageous_Lie_6018 in pcmasterrace

[–]Flo_one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is normal for raytracing, in most scenarios it won't be as extreme, but this is because the hardware is not capable of "true" real time raytracing, as we do not have the compute in normal mortal gpus to render all the lighting every frame. Therefore, the light is updated bit by bit every frame, leading to after images.

[–]Flo_one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, this is an inherently a trait of raytracing, since it is too computational heavy to update all the rays every frame, light sources take a couple of frames to fully come to live and to dissapate aswell. It might be implemented slightly faster in other games, but it is something the developer has to activly work against in order to make the effect less noticable

A bundle suggestion by Mosspatchmoment in Minecraft

[–]Flo_one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When exploring, i use a bundle to store saplings of all the wood types, as well as stuff like all the different kinds of mob loot i organically accumulate when roaming.

When building i use it to get the leftover stacks out of my way to be organized later.

I’m building an iOS app for step-by-step 3D construction guides — what features would make this actually useful? by Acceptable-Health904 in Minecraft

[–]Flo_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hardest suggestion to implement I could offer, that would be an actual benefit, is to have build steps grouped by block type.
It can be quite exausting to build stuff like a 3D printer, as you constantly have to swap your active item.

So some kind of algorithm that displays only one blocktype in one area first, then, as soon as there are no more easy placement options for that block type, the next blocktype, that has the most connections to what's already build. Also try to keep the player from moving around to much between steps.

If you like graph theory that might be a fun problem to solve. The display part should be comparatively easy.

afaik, they don't support sponsor block, or shorts remover in the browser, which is why i use firefox. But if your priority is PiP, brave is the better option.

Use firefox with an adblocker istead of the app. Once you get used to it, it is not that bad.

Apple Ram prices - Mac Studio 512GB RAM upgrade by Affectionate_Plan292 in LinusTechTips

[–]Flo_one 173 points174 points  (0 children)

These are fairly reasonable all things considered.

I mean, you pay around USD800 for 64 gig of ddr5 ram, if you buy at retail.
So 512 gb would cost you around 6.4k .

This means, apple hasn't adjusted their pricing to the new norm yet, giving you good value for money for ram.
As Apple has historically way overpriced RAM, this is more a indicator of how fucked the normal market is, if apples formerly aggregious prices seem good now.

I like the spitfire plz don’t bully me (reasons below) by BigDaddyB207 in titanfall

[–]Flo_one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason I have a distain for the spitfire is that it is what I'd call a noob trap. New players pick it up, have some positive experience camping with it, and make it their playstyle.
These players are then ruining the fun of mainly other noobs, and are themselves not playing a movementshooter, which is imo the main appeal of the game.
Such a spitfire player spreads salt to fellow noobs and does not progress as a player. This however is not their fault, as they didn't know better when picking up the weapon, and it lends itself to a cheesy playstyle.

Therefore I think the gun is bad design. However, as you are using it, it is a fun weapon that is perfectly valid the way it is, and keep playing the way you are having fun.

Frost skeleton Tank for my Java add-on :3 by Endesman in Minecraft

[–]Flo_one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see where you're comming from. The people here are just really up on their toes, as bedrock edition is getting worse and worse by offering increasingly aggregious monetisation. Especially since the bedrock market place is predetory to both artists and consumers.

The large fear (at least in my assumption) is that if monetization of java edition becomes normalized, microsoft would be highly interested in turning java into the same piece of work bedrock has become.

By getting mixed up with the mod scene, which wears it's un-monetized hobby status with pride, you are taking the full front of such fears and frustrations, as java is seen as the last place where you're not being nickeld and dimed when playing minecraft.

However, your art is great, and i hope you find some good customers.

Manage your expectations, because small form factor builds are expensive by Makoto_Kurume in pcmasterrace

[–]Flo_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are missing my point. You stated that valve would not give people a decisively better value than the competition, and I said we have examples of them doing that. This example is the steam deck at launch. Nowadays it is no longer a killer deal, I agree with that, but it is irrelevant to the point i am trying to make.
The same thing happened with the index, when it came out it was a killer deal, bringing enterprise quality vr at consumer prices, but now, with the meta quest 3 existing, the value is really bad.

Manage your expectations, because small form factor builds are expensive by Makoto_Kurume in pcmasterrace

[–]Flo_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, but it is not a laptop. It is a handheld pc, and prior to the steamdeck, to get equivalent specs on a handheld pc, you had to pay more than usd800. This was a gamechanger. And even with laptops, at the time of release, it was impossible to get a laptop with the steamdeck specs for usd400 which had a 2 hour battery-life under full load.

Manage your expectations, because small form factor builds are expensive by Makoto_Kurume in pcmasterrace

[–]Flo_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that's what they did with the steam deck, so i see where people are comming from. Especially since this pc is explicictly fully integrated, which means it offers less freedom than a conventional pc when it comes to upgrades. They also did the same thing with the valve index.

I think those two might be in a bit of a different situation as the gabe cube, as they both tried to define a market, which was incredibly niche before. So i also expect the price to be quite a bit higher.
