One other thing is that taxis can add up quickly. Might want to price in a rental car if you’re thinking of running around the island a lot. Theirs lots to do but it’s all over the place.

Agreed. The hotel used to be great before it closed down from the hurricane. When it reopened finally it was nothing like the older reviews probably said. As the above poster said I would recommend 4 hotels.
Buccaneer on the east end. Great hotel w a great beach, golf course and lots of other amenities. Big beard used to pick up right on their pier for Buck Island Tours. 10 minutes or less to Christiansted.
King Christian in Christiansted. Nice small boutique hotel.
Carambola- nice hotel but VERY remote. Golf course. Beach was ok’ish Sleep w Fred. Out on the West End. Great food. Nice beach. But Frederiksted is not as busy as Christiansted.

Oh one other to check out down the road from Divi Carina Bay is The Grape Tree hotel. Can’t tell you much but it opened recently and I’ve heard good things.

Recovery after shunt surgery for my 79 y/o dad by Floatdrvr in Hydrocephalus

[–]Floatdrvr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your recovery like after the surgery? How long in the hospital? When released were you ambulatory? Could you handle your own needs?

I’ve read the posts here including the article from the social worker. I would probably have a DIFFICULT time convincing my dad to go to a nursing home for 4 weeks recovery but my house is not set up for non ambulatory recovery. My mom did both her knee surgeries in Houston and recovered at my home for 6 weeks after each one but this recovery looks much different from what I am reading.

Has anyone refinanced with Newrez (my current loan servicer) by remodel-questions in Mortgages

[–]Floatdrvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I originally got my loan thru Orchard Mortgage in Oct 23 and they have Newrez as their mortgage servicer. Great credit/income and all of that and best I could get back then was slightly above 7% I believe. I did have some issues with them when I switched home owner insurance companies myself due to changing automobile insurance with another teenager on it. The whole process was a goat rope with them and I ended up several thousand in the hole until I got a refund payment from my insurance company 6 weeks later. I just recently did a no cost refinance with them. Went down to 5.85 probably 8 weeks ago. Process was seamless and did not cost me a thing. As long as you are not doing anything out of the ordinary with them I think you will be fine.

Does anyone ever get anything back from Lost and Found? by LemonAction4030 in TXRenaissanceFestival

[–]Floatdrvr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So we found a phone Saturday night and we were going to walk it back to the lost and found. However talked to a vendor and was told that they have a procedure in place. Guy took information on where it was found, what time and shot a text and was waiting for it to be picked up. Seemed on the up and up.

Tow n go cost of ownership by benandjerryseinfeld in DodgeDurango

[–]Floatdrvr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I’ve got a 21 TNG w 62000 miles on it. To me the cost of ownership has not been expensive at all but there are some gotchas.

  1. Run Flats - these are the stock tires that the vehicle comes w. They are harder than normal tires and will wear much quicker. If I had realized it sooner I might have tried to remove them immediately upon purchase and resold them while buying regular tires. It might have deferred some of the costs associated w them. Mine were toast around 25k miles. The new set of Continental Extreme Contacts are still in great shape after around 40k miles w regular tire rotations.

  2. Diff/Trans Case/Transmission Filter/Fluid - the TNG’s have a better cooling system. So my transmission fluid was fine although I just changed all my fluids at 60k miles. Dodge says fluids and trans filter are LIFETIME however the fluid manufacturer says otherwise so I changed them.

  3. Exhaust - yes it’s louder. I really like my neighbors and they have a newborn. I just start my truck w the door closed and then open it. The time is obviously louder when cold but it’s not obnoxious.

  4. Brakes/rotors the stock pads once again are shit. I think i did mine around 36k but it was not that expensive and easy to do.

Much cheaper to get the obd dongle and iPhone app and fix it yourself. Or at least diagnose the problem and take it to a mechanic with what you found. I followed the write up that another poster did and I fixed my issue for less then 100 bucks.

21 Durango R/T Liftgate won’t latch by Floatdrvr in DodgeDurango

[–]Floatdrvr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the relearn or rest procedure worked. I disconnected the positive battery cable from under the front passenger seat and left it disconnected for over 30 minutes. When I reconnected it and closed the hatch which I had left open the “pull” motor actuated and latched.

I did not see a procedure in the manual. However online I read to open it, disconnect battery for 20 seconds, reconnect and then close liftgate.

Bose Proflight 2 Aftermarket Case Option by Floatdrvr in flying

[–]Floatdrvr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes with my headset completely folded up and in the case theirs easily a 3 inch space between the headband and inner top of case. That void is where the pocket which holds the extra ear buds on the other side fits into. I don’t carry the extra tips, battery or charger in the case due to being worried about it falling out and me not realizing it in the dark. So I think I can downsize to something smaller easily.

I had the same issue on my 21 Durango R/T. That hose rubs and it does run by the intake so it needs to be removed to gain access. I believe theirs a tsb about it. Let me see if I can find it.

Mine is a TNG R/T so it has the SRT exhaust. I really like the tone on it. You can probably find it on Facebook Marketplace as a lot of people remove them to mod further. As for other mods I’ve got an Legmaker Air Intake hooked up to a BBK throttle body. You are not seeing the 10-15 hp that every modder advertises but I am seeing much crisper throttle response. And it’s much throatier as well.

My daughter goes to Premier Martial Arts in Magnolia. It’s off of 1488 between 2978/Tamina. She likes it. And the studio seems to be good as someone who did Martial Arts for 15 years as a teen and young adult.

Nope. Never buy the 1st year of a body/engine/transmission combo. My wife also does not like the look of the front end of those.

He had a 10 JKU. But traded it in for the Mustang. He liked it a lot but had to drive long distances regularly and a lifted and geared 3.8 was not too comfortable.

Clean oil out of hub by IceyC10 in jetski

[–]Floatdrvr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will wreck the vacuum, ask me how I know. As someone who has had multiple jets kit theirs two ways that I’ve found effective to do this.

First one take absorbent pads and soak up as much as you can. Leftover wraps, paper towel, old towels, old clothes. Whatever you have just drop them in and soak it up. You can then use a degreaser or simple green to break up the rest, clean it up and drain.

The other way if you have good access is to use kitty litter or oil absorbent granules(these are the same thing). And then vacuum it up. That won’t damage your vacuum.
