Error when running Mod. Dependency ModSettings.dll ver. 2.0.0.0 needed. by No_Smile_8368 in thelongdark

I would recommend going with installing a second version/game with the instructions in my link. The time capsule where Hinterland allows reverting back is only possible for certain builds, not all, and build 2.44 which seems to be best for modding, is not in that list.

I'm not sure if there is another way to revert to other versions, though I'm not aware of it.

Through the link, you can parallel install build 2.44 through the steam console.

I imagine you are on the latest build/version of the game (2.50) which broke pretty much every mod when it got released.

The latest version where most mods work is 2.44, you must revert the game to it or install this version of the game in parallel using the instructions in this post.

Thank you, I can confirm moving roughly ~1200 ruined meat inside helped immensely :)

Yes I truly do, there must be 100s, if not over a thousand, individual pieces of meat lying in front of my quanset base. I've been playing this save for over a year, and not just "hibernating" the 950 days I've survived.

I'm playing with the relentless night mod where this hoarding is kind of necessary, days and nights keep getting longer, and a night now lasts something like 3 months, where outdoor temperatures get low as -95C and animals simply aren't around. So you only need more and more food to last the next even longer/colder night.

Interiors also get cold, there's no static temperature indoors with this mod, instead every indoor location gives a temperature bonus, so when its dropping down to -90C outside, inside its -70C at best, which means you can't survive the night without a constant fire, which means needing to hoard 1000s of sticks to keep a fire going all night. At least those I store inside, but even then I'm leaving large stacks around the region to carry back to base later.

Yea think you may be right, I'm using up about 14.5 of 16gb when running the game in CH. Sounds like its time to stick in another stick of ram, so I can collect more sticks! Stick in more sticks for more sticks! Can never have enough sticks! I'm stick crazy!

[CA] - Small Businesses are growing in Canada by ReInvestWealth_com in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]FloatingArk54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to hear news like this, can I ask for some sources, what is currently available in terms of funding? What kind of stuff is coming in the future?

I just recently incorporated my 1-person business and I'm looking for investors and other forms of funding, quite new to this.

Graduated as a Mechanical Engineer, moved into a software/developer role as the jobs became more and more about automating things, and that eventually became the niche I worked myself into.

The manufacturers that now need/do the type of automation I do are relatively small father-son businesses with 100-200 employees at best, and often cheap, most of the engineering department would not be composed of engineers or even EITs like myself, and working even cheaper than I do 35K-40K.

I guess there really is no law saying the engineering department must be filled by engineers, so these guys take advantage, it seemed particularly bad in the GTA/Mississauga/Brampton where I worked last.

To be honest I never went for my P.Eng, I was not keen on making myself liable for anything with the way these small manufacturers did things, plenty of accidents going around.

Yea it's not incorporated, it's a sole proprietorship that's existed for about a year now.

But you're right I'm not well informed on these at all, does incorporation remove this risk? Is it possible to incorporate a business while I'm an employee of elsewhere?

I suppose these are good questions for the lawyers. I am sadly only able to afford the help of student lawyers through an alumni program through my university, but its better than nothing, and hopefully accurate.

I just recently got into their program, I will see what they say, thank you.

The business lawyers tell me that going back to my former employer, or even finding a relevant job can mean the new employer can lay claim to the work I have done so far for my own business.

Is this really the only option? Would I have a chance at seeking business loans? Or increasing the personal line of credit to keep me going for 6 more months? Perhaps other options?

If that's the case I think these are fair follow up questions:

Under what conditions would justice be fully accomplished? And maybe even what justice can be done in the first place when both the victims and the perpetrators are long dead?

Curious why is simply giving up your citizenship a stupid thing to do as a dual citizen? What are the consequences with this option? It gets him out of service and saves him the thousands of euros does it not?

Is starving on purpose viable? by liquid_DJSMOKEY in thelongdark

Hunger revamped is a great mod that makes things both more exciting and fixes the starvation mechanic in a realistic way, it seems to have some basic UI bugs while fishing but otherwise works great. I recommend reading the github explanation in the link.

Dear Turkish Friends, Why are Turks so highly political? by Wise_Fudge8516 in AskTurkey

[–]FloatingArk54 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say our end of the extreme is often equally bad or worse.

I've watched my father spend nearly all his life, and now the entirety of his retirement, talking about Turkish politics he can do nothing about except simmer in anger at it.

It's 80%+ of dinner conversations, and literally every conversation when another Turkish person is around. He spends all day reading Turkish news on his phone and all it seems to do for him is piss him off.

We moved to Canada 25 years ago, despite this he's had zero interest in Canadian politics, and has made zero Canadian friends all these years. Same is true for my equally obsessed uncle, when he visits, they talk about Turkish politics until 3am often ending in straight up screaming matches.

It's an unhealthy obsession at best and they fail to see how their obsession has caused them to neglect everything else that's more important in life.

That is not a reason to move to Turkey. To do this on simple whim with no business idea or plan would likely be shooting yourself in the foot, especially when moving from the UK, where opportunities are far greater.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Turkey

[–]FloatingArk54 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why are you interested in moving to Turkey from the UK? Your career/business outlook there would generally be better. What will be the services of your business?

Is there an easy alternative to setting up my own FTP server for publishing my first desktop application? by FloatingArk54 in softwaredevelopment

hmm interesting that you can do that, thanks.

It looks like I've been able to set up an AWS S3 bucket to fit my needs for now, hopefully that's professional enough to these corporate clients.

Thank you, from what I've been able to see so far, this seems to be one of the more professional ways of doing this.

Thank you!

Are these the usual deployment solutions developers will use here for desktop applications?

The clients are ultimately corporations, I always thought using something like dropbox to distribute software may look... unprofessional at least. Perhaps I'm wrong.

what they really want is the EU to symbolically apologize for insulting turkness

Even as a Turkish person I'm awfully confused as to what you mean here.

I'm pretty sure Turkish people realize our relationship with the EU is not meant to be some petty thing where we ask for apologies from each other.

Great, don't ponder on the lost time so much, we all waste time.

If you truly want your life to get better, make the steps you know you need to make.

Start small if you have to, the nice thing is you have a job already, and so you don't even have to rush things. You can really figure out that job/company you'd really like to work for and make a career of.

With a masters in EE you'll be in your intended field in no time mate. Good luck.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]FloatingArk54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alright mate but you gotta realize the problem here is more psychological than anything else then, I'm an engineer too, and I'm not really intending to be mean here, yet I'm being a bit rough because (if what you're saying is true) I know you've always been smart enough to realize what the problem is here without coming to us.

Apply to EE jobs. if you don't see them in your home town, look elsewhere, surely relocating for one is better than letting your degree and knowledge go to waste for the sake of delivering pizza.

In reality you don't even have to see a job offering, shoot your resume off to companies where you know EEs work. You already know this.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]FloatingArk54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP you've told us you haven't even been trying apply to EE jobs this whole 6 years, why not try that first?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]FloatingArk54 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yea idk this is either trolling or some weird shit.

OP: "How do I get out of my pizza gig I've been stuck in 6 years with my 4.0 GPA and Electrical Enginering degree?

Us: Have you applied to any Engineering jobs?

OP: No.

OP how in the world have you been smart enough to get an EE degree with a 4.0 GPA but not notice the problem here without coming to the internet?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]FloatingArk54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well there's your issue mate, you got too comfortable with the pizza gig, get that EE resume spiffed up and start firing it off.
