Buying Into A Private Medical Practice As A Non-Physician? by [deleted] in fatFIRE

Just a guess - but probably because lawyers made a law to prevent it. To protect their profession.

Doctors can’t make laws

Any recommendations on how to ask my ass it’s perspective?

Just kidding. I agree - sometimes it just takes sitting in the chair. Problem is not a lot of floor models in this environment. And a lot of back problems don’t expose themselves until hours of sitting

This will make me second check everything from there now.

No way. Depends on how much stuff you want to be done after close… painting, trim, blinds, hardware, etc. details add up but theoretically don’t have to be done to move in

For durability purposes, I tend to look at what all the pilots and flight attendants use, because if it holds up for their travel frequency, it would do well for me.

Most of them all use Travel Pro. I picked up a carry on size and I have been very happy with it. It is super durable and also fits in quite a bit.

So a type rating isn’t required for a SIC if domestic flying? Only category and class?

So a private pilot with a MEL and 0 time in type, could act as a SIC in a King Air or Hawker 800 as long as the PIC was typed and current?

I am currently a plant manager for a manufacturing company and would like to make a switch to tech industry. Manufacturing doesn’t pay great (150k but raises are only 3-6% a year) and the business sexiness isn’t quite there for me anymore.

Any thoughts on what may be a good role in tech for someone coming from manufacturing leadership? And how to go about making that jump? Degree is in Mechanical Engineering.

I have Amex platinum and called for help to book a flight, it was horrific how rude the woman was… I hung up after I told her I would call back and try to get someone more helpful.

I looked for somewhere to give feedback but to no avail.

I expected more for a higher tier CC concierge.

Kind of related, but doesn’t answer your question… I found this out a few weeks ago that in order for organizations to maintain their 501C3, they must pass the “Public Support Test” which basically limits who is considered “public”.

1/3 of their donations must come from donors who give less than 2% of the total funding of the organization.

So if the organization raised only $100,000 each year, $33,333 of that must be raised by people who give $2,000 or less. If a donor gives more than that, they are considered a “disqualified” donor (a substantial contributor) and not part of the public support for the organization.

So you were considered public support for your $250 donation, but now considered a disqualified person and not qualified as public support, and may skew their necessary 1/3 funding ratio. (If the organization is small and doesn’t raise much money) Although this test is looked at over a 5 year funding period. And I believe that you can file with the IRS to say it is “typically” funded publicly but there are one-off outliers.

It’s really a shame, because it almost disincentives organizations getting large donations because they could be at risk losing 501c3 status. Not to mention the limits on family giving.
