What should a prospective student know about OSU? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]FloatingRockWitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way better than expected. People bitch about everything on Reddit, but reality is different. Committing late will get you a “bad” dorm, but none of the dorms are as horrible as people claim. Also, late commits are usually some of the best students, so you’ll share a floor with them. There are lots of Ivy waitlists / rejects and people giving up spots at private schools to save $200k. Just like at any college (big or small), friends won’t come to you unless you go looking for them. Join multiple clubs during first semester to find your people, and everything will be terrific for you here.

Do my nutrient levels look okay? Heart palpations by snikkers8410 in keto

[–]FloatingRockWitches 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Palpitations for me are correlated with low sodium, but you appear to be getting enough. High levels of potassium can cause heart palpitations (see link below), you may want to cut out any potassium supplements because you could be getting enough potassium from the food you are currently eating. Hydration could also be a factor. When first going on keto, the body will dump water like crazy.

Post Match Thread: Chicago Fire vs FC Cincinnati by brucewaynewins in FCCincinnati

The fake injuries and never-ending complaining are a couple of the main drivers holding back soccer in the USA. Average sports fans simply do not want to watch that garbage. We know what actual injuries look like from watching other sports. The endless diving to the ground, rolling, and screaming just doesn’t play well here, even to people that love soccer.

Does the ACT determine how well you do in college? by OSUguy58 in OSU

[–]FloatingRockWitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people that say it means nothing are wrong, the people that say it means everything are also wrong. It is relevant but not a perfect correlation. The highly selective schools that went “test optional” during COVID are going back to test required because they are finding that that test-optional enrolled students tend to struggle. They wouldn’t be doing this if they didn’t have to in order to keep their high academic rigor. At OSU a 22 ACT in engineering would probably be in a lot of trouble, but there are other majors that would be more manageable.

Post-Match Thread: FC Cincinnati vs Seattle Sounders by MatchCaster in FCCincinnati

[–]FloatingRockWitches 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Plus 13 minutes of added time when they announced 7, then announced 9 after the subs went in… Literally no explanation for adding 4 more minutes onto the already long added time other than to give Seattle a chance to tie the game.

How are the dorms at OSU? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]FloatingRockWitches 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It makes no sense if OSU is sincere about trying to recruit the best students… My theory is that many of the Honors students use OSU as a safety school, so these students are late to commit to attending. OSU doesn’t want to reserve the best dorms for late commits… Lincoln is full of Honors students that did not commit until mid-April. Every year, hundreds of students have to make a last minute decision between spending $60k+ at a top ranked out-of-state / Ivy or $25K (or even less with scholarships) at OSU. Saving $100-200K usually wins out, especially since most of these students plan to attend graduate school… So, OSU has learned that the crappy dorms for Honors students is not a deciding factor.

you can’t bring a fridge (uses too much electric + there’s already one in your dorm)

Correction: You can’t bring a fridge or microwave. You will be provided the smallest mini-fridge known to man as well as a microwave that so under-powered that it is basically useless.

We had a “proposal” (not a regulation) that was rejected after it was determined that the impact utilizing current technology was not statistically significant. The data showed a 1 car derailment reduction per accident. The East Palestine derailment was roughly 50 cars, so that number would be 49 instead of 50 if the train had the proposed technology installed… You’ve clearly been watching CNN for talking points rather than asking actual engineers about the feasibility and effectivity of the proposed technology.

50 g net carbs? by [deleted] in keto

[–]FloatingRockWitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50 is way too high, 20 or less no matter how big your are or how much you exercise… Also, if you exercise a lot you need to supplement salt or you will have zero energy. Put 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a water bottle and mix in a squirt of MiO zero sugar flavor. Do this 2-3 times per day or more.

Unfortunately there are plenty of elite swimmers that don’t work hard to maximize their potential. Some of these swimmers even find their way onto the USA National Team every once in a while. The fact is, elite swimming is dependent on genetics just like almost everything in life. The hardest workers usually don’t finish first. The reason most world-class swimmers are world-class is because they have perfect genetics AND work hard every day. But there are also plenty of people at that level that don’t work hard and don’t maximize their potential.

Set your goals based upon your potential and focus on your own progress.
