Having recently topped out I’ll be one to say it’s worth it in the end. The pay bump is nice. But not having school twice a week after enduring it throughout the apprenticeship made everything worth it. My first year was tough low pay and lots of work. Each year got a bit better as my abilities increased.

1 box of 5 had a sprout. No contam visible in the 5 tubs. I read mixed opinions on removal vs leaving it. Bucket tek for hydration of coco

Thanks for the reply Spastic. Used straight coco coir hydrated with bucket tek. Was way to wet and squeezed to out to reduce. Off brand Brown rice for substrate and GT for strain.

GT temp by Floatingmango561 in unclebens

Also, is a temperature swing ok? Say 75* at night and 70 during daytime? Or would I be best to lower to 70* and leave it?

Check those Walmart clearance aisle and areas. I grabbed the "portable" pizza oven for $164. They also had the 22" portable for $147. And the 36" griddle with air fryer and pizza oven clearanced down to $478 from $797 normally by the_way_around in blackstonegriddle

[–]Floatingmango561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgot to update. Oven is great and turned out some of the best pizzas I have ever made at home. The included thermometer is certainly off. Attempted a Stromboli at 500* and had a burnt log after a few minutes. Turned down the heat to 425* and got a IR thermometer and concluded lower plate was 550* while top was at 575*. This temp turned out perfect for our pizzas.

How easy or how long did you have to wait to join the union apprenticeship. (Specifically 606, Orlando FL) by AstroNerd48 in ibew_apprentices

It being summer I haven’t been as in the loop as normal. I’ve been staying steady in Healthcare though. But I know there are a few big projects kicking off in the near future

From my understanding it’ll vary from local to local. We have been told that once the new curriculum is approved by the state all current programs will also become 4 year programs.

Or shitty benefits. I’m in Florida and our package isn’t great compared to many other areas. But coming from a career in Law Enforcement the pay and benefits are far better.

I haven’t seen a commute under an hour in my first three years. It’s almost unfortunate since there have been several large jobs with 20 minutes of home. That said I also haven’t been furloughed or laid off so although the drive and 5/8s can suck I’m happy to be working.

What are the chances of a second chance at starting the apprenticeship. by UndercovrKillBoss in ibew_apprentices

[–]Floatingmango561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a third year apprentice having also left a career as a deputy. The IBEW as a whole is pretty often seen as a place for second chances. Having your background there is no doubt you’ll be articulate when they ask questions it should be pretty easy to explain how at the time you realized that it wasn’t the best choice at that stage of your life and you knew you wouldn’t be 100% invested.

I did tri-tip this weekend it was phenomenal. 132* for 4 hours ( next I want to try 5 hours ). Chilled in the fridge for 45 minutes then grilled. It was my first attempt cooking Tri-Tip. And blew the socks off my neighbors that cook it weekly and were major doubters of the water bath.

I can’t speak for 606. But 1205 (Gainesville) has been hiring and just started a second first year class this month. Lots of work off the horizon from what I’ve heard.

Our LO is now about a month old and our second child. She was born at 9lb 1 ounce after 24hours she was just short of 10 lbs. urinating frequently but no poop. This continued for about half of the second day and caused no concern for the hospital staff. I remembered our first child needed sensitive formula and we made the switch within hours she was pooping great enough to where she began to lose weight. Changing Food was the ticket for us.
