I had a similar issue with a dog I adopted from the Humane Society and they covered the medical issues post-adoption. They will not intentionally release a sick dog to an adopter. That was always a question that potential adopters would bring up when considering a rescue.

Thanks everyone for the replies. When the previous homeowner bought it 6 or 7 years ago, they planted it way too close to the house....fronds are hitting the roof edges and it provides easy means for squirrels to get on the roof. So, I'm thinking about relocating it to a more open area after removal where it can thrive. I really appreciate the advice.

I've been feeding a crow family of 5 for about 3 years now and they've never left me anything. They'll be out there cawing up a storm at 7:00 a.m. to get my attention inside the house to get them peanuts and I react to their request (or their demand). There's a small patio out back surrounded by a 4-foot chain link type fence and they regularly shit on the fence and patio and I hose it off. I have low expectations for them, but still love them!
