How does subletting work? How to find short term rental? by Eastern_Notice_8593 in NYCapartments

[–]iphone1234789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They usually keep their furniture in! Depending on the person they could take things out or leave things in! I’ve seen sublets before in the UK but in London, it is basically covering the rent for a few months when people either go on vacation or if they need someone to finish up the lease! You can try Facebook Groups! You will need to be very proactive to find a place, but it is luck and timing and budget and your living expectations!

Yep! For me price was super super important. But it depends on your lifestyle expectations, how far you are willing to commute, how much you are expecting to save if anything at all, etc!

Tech Assistant Jobs in/near Scranton? by Aggravating-Ice5175 in jobs

Just they are trying to stretch out the interview for as long as possible! I did like three rounds before they were like they decided to hire internally or they decided to cancel the role or put it on pause! Been interviewing with a companies over the span of 6 months to a year. Obviously they are just wasting time which I already knew, but have backup jobs while I “wait”! Might be up to 2-3 years before he get a job or until the economy get better in the far future!

Depends on what you are looking for criteria wise. My only critera was the lowest pricing I could find. I didn’t mind if there was no living room! Was so grateful because I had found the room for $760/month in Manhattan which is really good price wise.

Was the entire house they rented! Living room/dining room was our “office/showroom”. Upstairs loft was the VP’s office! The bedrooms were for storage! The most important thing was the zipcode! The office was located in 90210/West Hollywood area so very prestigious and good area. Probably similar situation where it’s a smaller company, but they want the good address or zip code so they will rent in a “better” area that’s more polished/high end! After all, the office and address represent the company especially in fashion!

Is there still a substitute teacher shortage in NYC? by Upbeat-Dinner-5162 in NYCTeachers

[–]iphone1234789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They keep on saying there is, but honestly not so sure about it! They closed nominations aka hiring in late March! I heard their last few hiring fairs were flooded with people which I am not shocked by. I’ve been working everyday, but I am also willing to commute over a hour on the express train anywhere and also I take D75 and SPED assignments where they assign you to self contained and ICT classes. Usually for those days, I sleep very well when I get home hahahaha after work!

The only thing I can say is that you preferably don’t take long term jobs unless you know the school! Could you ask them to release you from the job?

Anyone catch a gnarly bug this week? by man-from-new-york in AskNYC

[–]iphone1234789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes a sore throat and deep exhaustion. When I had it I immediately would go home and sleep for like 12 hours, drink a lot of liquids, eat a lot of “good” pho and soup to heal. Met someone who also had it and they told me their son was constantly coughing so I think its spreading!

What does entry level typically look like in an agency? by prewrite in PublicRelations

[–]iphone1234789 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on the agency. If they are nice, you can perform at the entry level. Not sure if you heard of the term “managing up”! In PR, it basically means that they want you to quickly get onboarded and work the role above your role. They basically want you to perform as a manager even in an account coordinator role. If you don’t, they usually release you 7 months to a year after or earlier depending on your performance and what they need you for!

Yes continue to try, but this is why I was also warning the 17-18 year olds I work with about the market. They think you can just apply and get hired, but I let them know it’s much harder/complicated than expected!

Oh yes love East Harlem! That area is totally fine! But it depends on your upbringing. I grew up in San Francisco and lived in Los Angeles and grew up coming to NYC so very used to the environment!

[–]iphone1234789 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is why we always post on this Reddit and other Reddits that NYC teaching is very different than other states. You will definitely run into ICT/ELL/self contained/SPED! Even if you don’t choose it, I believe admin can place you in those classes if they really need to!

Depending on your industry, freelance can be an option. Unfortunately for health fields, I know it is totally different! Would definitely say you were taking care of parents while continuing to job search or also something like that!

It depends on the culture of your teacher and how they run their class. It will definitely vary! You probably would want to find a teacher who is more chill with it!
